Yes, fleas can cause hair loss. Get some Frontline or Advantage from the vet.
Also, flea collars, in addition to being pointless, cause hairloss.
Ringworm and other fungi can cause hair loss.
You need a vet.

Erm, hair loss can definetly be caused from fleas. This is because the cat will be scratching and licking the area like crazy cause of the irritation. The neck is the most warmest spot on a cats body, so that is the number one spot fleas go. It could actually be out of boredom. As silly as that sounds, yes out of boredum. When cats are bored they sit there and just lick themselves like crazy! But, I sure hope you are treating your cat with flea shampoo, and are applying the drops that you place at the back of the neck.
Hope this helps! I'm a veterinarian assistant btw.

Your kitten sounds like he is allergic to flea bites and that CAN cause blad spots to appear on the cat's coat. I kow this because my cat has the exact same reaction to flea bites. Your kitty's loss of hair around the neck area is caused by fleas which like to congregate and feed around a cat's neck area.
After you have treated your kitty for fleas (Frontline, Revolution, Advantage are really effective) you will find the your cat's neck hairs will grow back and he will quit having bald spots on his coat.
Oh - fleas ARE NOT harmless, especially to a kitten. They transmit disease, tapeworm and cause anemia.
Please treat your cat for fleas at the soonest opportunity.
Good luck.

do you have a flea collar on him ??? if so you need to get it off of him , most collars and sprays are for kittems 12 weeks or older . make sure that the skin is not broken around the area , if so clean it up then put a thin coat of neosporin to help heal. there is an all natural spray that can be used on kittens that young its called natures chemistry , should be able to find it at your local pet store

Yes, some cats are allergic to flea bites. I had to take my oldest cat to the vet because her fur was falling out it patches. Turns out she had fleas!!!!!! My kitties are indoor cats so I have no idea where the fleas came from. Everyone got advantage flea drops and I had to spray/ vacuum everything everywhere!!!
Talk about embarrassed.........

Allergy to the food you are feeding him! This happened to my kitten when I started her on solid food, change foods and see if that helps. She may be allergic to wheat, a good majority are.

Most likely it's the fleas...because of all the itching. Or he has some other skin disease. Have the vet check him.
