Tongue piercings is one of the least painful piercings to get. There will be some swelling for a few days after you get the piercing. Eat cold things (Ice, ice cream) to help with the swelling. No it is not difficult to handle nor clean. The straight barbells are what most people go with. They are easy to remove, and clean and put back in.

EDIT: I figured I would comment on the answer the person gave you about not eating pizza or anything hard for a good month. That is not true. You can eat pizza and anything else you like to. It's just that some people choose not to because their tongue is swelled and they don't want to bite their barbell. I eat chips 15 minutes after I got mine pierced I also eat pizza for dinner that day. It's a personal choice each person haves to make. It's fine to eat pizza and other solid foods if you don't want to that is fine as well.

I got mine a week ago for $80. Everytime I look at it in the mirror I'm reminded of how much I love it! It's a great piercing and I've kept up with hygiene like washing my mouth with alcohol free mouthwash regularly and to be honest, the soreness has pretty much gone away. I didn't experience bad swelling or an inability to talk. The number of complements I'm getting for it is more than I imagined hehehe! It's a rad piercing. Honestly, if you're not getting it at a dodgy cheap shop then there's really nothing to worry about. It's not problematic and it should be fully healed in about six weeks time. It also doesn't affect your teeth in any way like a tongue piercing would which is another reason I like it so much. Don't really see any cons to it to be honest... if you keep up with good oral hygiene and get it done at a good place, then you will have nothing to worry about.

Since you asked about a tongue WEB piercing (most everyone gave you info on regular tongue piercings)
Pain varies by individual
They do heal, but are sometimes prone to rejection/migration
Cleaning is the same for any oral piercing. Sea Salt Soaks twice daily, rinse your mouth out with clean water after eating/smoking etc. No contact with others (kissing, oral sex) for at least a month, 6 weeks is better. Do not use mouthwash, or anything other than sea salt soaks (saline)
Oral piercings generally heal quickly, and are the least prone to infection (with proper aftercare).
Jewelry - your choice, ask your piercer what he/she gennerally uses. low profile barbells are usually good to start with, but you can use a CBR
Good luck

Well to me getting my tongue pierced was the least painful of all my piercings. It doesn't hurt .The only thing uncomfortable about getting your tongue pierced is the swelling. As for eating you can eat what you like as long as you rinse your mouth out after wards. Also I'm a smoker and you dont have anymore of a chance of it getting infected then a person who doesn't smoke .It all depends on how you take care of the piercing.I have a straight barbell.

they all hurt! If your a smoker its more likely for it to get infected. I dont have it done or anything but I have over 20 piercings. Talk to your piercer to see what kind of jewerly is best and I suggest going somewhere that has done it before, you dont want to be a test dummy trust me!!!

It hurts! Please don't do it! I haven't done it, but I'm told it hurts like crazy, and gets infected easily.
