I'm above average, I think, but I'm the first to admit that there's a ton of stuff I don't know.

Almost everyone in this thread is bluffing.
PH.D's average 120 IQ. Even the most elite scientists and doctors average no more than 140. 140 is a very high level of intelligence, achieved by only about 1 in every 300 people.
That and I'd like to know a commonly used test that is actually in practice that tests over IQ 160. There are none, so, so much for the whole 'I was tested at school at like 180 oollololo'. Maybe if it was a ratio IQ (child score which has been inflated), but then you were probably identified as a prodigy (lucky you) and are hopefully doing something great with your gifts.

I used to score 140 to 160 on all the tests (depends on the test) but then I got bucked off a few horses and had a concussion or two and now get 120 to 130. I don't feel any less smart - just have more problems especially with the math and shape type questions.
Now I don't feel tests are necessarily the main indication of intelligence - I know people who would barely get 100 on a test that are extremely intelligent and great problem solvers and people who would score high but not be anywhere as good at solving everyday situations and living in the real world.

Fr. Corapi's IQ
I was listening to Father Corapi on EWTN last night (9:00 PM EST Sat. shortwave)
He said that he was on the internet and took one of those on-line IQ tests.
He said: "the results came up" - pause - "I am not too swift."
That sort of surprised me. I thought that Fr. Corapi would have a very high IQ, given that he has five university degrees with honors, and given the way he speaks.
However, I would say that IQ tests do not really measure intelligence. Intelligence is the capacity to understand and deal with real things and situations. IQ tests, on the other hand, measure your facility to anticipate patterns on paper. Those are two different things (although there may be some degree of correlation).
Intelligence can be broadly divided into speculative and practical. Speculative intelligence is one's capacity to understand things or situations, and practical intelligence is one's capacity to work with things or situations. A person may be weak in one and strong in the other.
In fact, intelligence is not one capacity that is measured by a single test, but psychologists have discerned about seven or eight different types. Technical intelligence and interpersonal intelligence can be considered two different types. A person may be very good at working with machines, but very poor at working with people. Another person may be the exact opposite.
Actually, I would say that there is an unlimited number of intelligence types, because there are an unlimited number of types of things and situations that are possible.
Even verbal intelligence can be subdivided.
To give an example, there is one man in our church who is a terrible lector and Rosary leader. He has all the stresses and pauses in the wrong places. But he got up to make a speech, and it was absolutely beautiful. He was completely gifted in what to say and how to say it.
Many people think that they are unintelligent because they are inept at what they think constitutes being bright and capable, and other people might have told them so. But they may have profound facility in an area (or several areas) that they have not yet discovered.
God has not given anyone all the gifts, but has distributed them the way He has so we must rely on each other and exercise charity towards each other.

173, 200.. That's hilarious!!! Considering Albert Einsteins IQ was a little over 160. He said be Honest..
Mine is 135. I'm above average, but no Genius. I don't claim to know everything because I don't. Really though I think the IQ really doesn't matter..I know plenty of intellectual people who don't have high IQ's..besides in my experiences with people with very high IQ's they are extremely smart, but seem to lack common sense..

Its a fair question, but please be aware that IQ tests are very subjective and many psychiologists are in favopr of scrapping the entire concept.
More modern tests measure 7,9 or 12(?) aspects of intelligence to show a real cross section of mental abilities. For instance, a person may be mathematically gifted, but have weak language skills.
IQ tests measure logical skills, mostly, and are poor indicators of a person's potential for having a successful life. Many "intelligent" people are dreamers and layabouts, or just clueless when dealing with other people.

The last time I took a test was in high school (about 20 years ago) it was about 140. My hubby had a 160.
I feel I am pretty intelligent but honestly I do not work up to my potential. I do very little to 'exercise' my mind like I should so I would probably test a lot lower today

i took the iq test on tickle.com and got a 131 which is supposed to be a little more than above average. but asking someone what their iq is is like asking someone what their asvab score is. everyone is a freaking genious. i would not trust one single score that anyone gives you on this forum.

I am not really sure but it is at least 110. likely higher. when they do the brain function tests on me my short term memory is exactly average, and my processing speed is one standard to two standard deviations higher.Every other parameter is within the top tenth percentile with general intelligence off their scales, placing me, according to their measures in the top two percent of the population. The short term memory being at average, and the slower processing speed are from brain damage due to the accident I was in last year.
I have always thought of myself as average. I am no longer sure if that is really true.

When I was in school, I believe I was tested around 145. I believe studies have shown that I.Q. does not always show how much of a success someone will be ( I'm a perfect example). Although, it is a good indicator of their ability to learn.

at last test i was 134 but this is going back years
it would most likely be a little higher now however ...
i dont think this makes me intelligent as such .. it means i may be good at certain tasks or puzzles etc
as someone once said ... having an education does not make you educated
and i am most certainly not educated , but i do pride myself on being logical and having common sense ... i value this more than education
