Today outside I noticed that my dog looks like she has a slimy grey spot in the bottom corner of her eye, its pretty large. People at work said it was a cataract. Now I can't see it indoors though, can you only see some cataracts in the daylight? What about with a flashlight?

If it was in the corner of the eye and was not inside the eye than it was most likely eye snot or "fairy poop" as I call it. If it gets worse or persists take your dog to a Vet. My dog normally gets dirty grey looking eye snot in the corner of her eye but she has no infection it is just allergies. Take a kleenex and wipe it out of the eye.

When a dog has cataracts it is inside the eye and looks like milky blue film inside overtop of the pupil. This is what a dogs eyes look like with cataracts....

Cataracts look like a milky film over the eye. If the slimy grey spot isn't there any more, it might just have been some "goop" (for lack of a better term) that dog's (and people's) eyes develop when there's an irritant in the eye. If it's still there, though, you should definitely take your dog to the vet.

Cataracts turn the eye milky blue. I think your dog has an eye infection. Take it to a vet.

You need to have the vet check it to see what it is. Doesn't sound like a cataract to me.

yes depending on the age of the dog you could have it removed. cataracts can come on quickly in older dogs. it doesn't sound like it is to bad yet. but i would take them to the vets. and have them determine it.

A catarac covers the whole pupil, what you describe may be an eye infection from a scratch or something like that.
