The rosary beads were used by muslims and budhist but then in the 10th centuary catholics believe that in a private revalation to st. dominic from mary where she gave him the rosary to fight the heretics. The rosary is meant purposley for meditating on the life of jesus and the two scenes that catholics consider to be refered to Mary in the book of revelations. The rosary is meditated on mysteries supported by reading bible verses.

The first time beads were used was to recite the 150 psalms.

Aswell Early Christian Theologians taught this.
Catholics believe that the saints can interceed for people because they are in the heavenly union with God now they have already been Judged when they died and being of Union with God they have a better connection with him and can pray for you in union with your own prayers if any prayers are answered we believe that that is the work of God himself without God nothing is possible the saints didn't have any powers or anything like that on earth the only way something happend miraculously was God working through them... We believe there was a form of intercession in the Bible when the people at the wedding at cannan asked Mary to ask Jesus to work a miracle mary asked Jesus and then he did as she asked being God Jesus already knew they needed wine but waited for Mary to ask him... we also use this verse Apocalypse 5:6-8, Apocalypse 8:1-5

You'll find that right next to the verse where the Holy Trinity is defined.

You will find references to the garments that Jesus wore ... traditional garments ... which were constructed with certain features, according to accepted tradition ... which included shawls and fringes and tassels ... all not too far removed from beads.

And where do we find a prohibition against the use of beads, in scripture?

It's only modern day Protestants, who have a problem with honoring the Blessed Virgin, and accepting her God given power of intercession.

Martin Luther, along with all the original "reformers" were all devoted to Mary, and clearly understood how important she always was to God, and to his church.

In the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, the rich man begs Father Abraham to interceed for him, in several ways. Abraham refuses, but there is never any doubt about his ability to do so.

Luk 16:22 And it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. And the rich man also died: and he was buried in hell.
Luk 16:23 And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom:
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water to cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.

Abraham is certainly no closer to Jesus than his own mother, so why wouldn't the Blessed Virgin be in a position to interceed for the faithful, as well?

And why would such a simple and logical principle require a formal definition in scripture?

Any child is capable of understanding the truth of it.

Jesus did speak of those who share your attitude, though:

Matthew 23:24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.

+ Communion of Saints +

Before Jesus Christ died for our sins and opened the gates of heaven there were no saints in heaven. Therefore there are no Old Testament writings that would mention them.

Very few of the new Christians died before most of the New Testament was written. Therefore there is little in the Bible about asking saints to pray for us.

However the last book of the Bible does talk about the saints in heaven praying.

Revelation 5:8: Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones.

Revelation 8:3-4: He was given a great quantity of incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the holy ones, on the gold altar that was before the throne. The smoke of the incense along with the prayers of the holy ones went up before God from the hand of the angel.

The Holy Spirit guided the early Church in many things not explained in the Bible including how does the Body of Christ (believers) on Earth relate to the Body of Christ (saints) in heaven. We are still one Body.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

+ Hail Mary +

The Hail Mary prayer simply recites Bible passages (the Word of God) and asks Mary to pray for us:

Hail Mary Full of grace, the Lord is with you. (These are the words the angel Gabriel said to Mary, a Bible quote.)

Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. (This is Mary's cousin Elizabeth's greeting, another bible quote.)

Holy Mary, (The angel Gabriel said she was full of grace and Elizabeth said she was blessed.)

Mother of God, (the Bible says Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, God the Son)

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. (A simple request to pray for us.)

Amen.

+ With love in Christ.

Check out the story of the Wedding at Cana. It was she who interceded and requested Christ to transform water into wine.

Only Jesus can intercede for us! And as far as I've read idols of any kind are expressly forbidden in the Bible too.
