Think about your friends and the bride-to-be, what do you think they'd be wearing?
If they're generally denim people, nice jeans should be ok during the day. You don't want to be the only one wearing denim, so think about what everyone else will wear. I wouldn't wear denim after dark though, unless they're designer jeans and you're under 35.
Personally, I think people wear *far* too much denim far too frequently.. but that's just me.
You need to look comfortable and casual, but neat and respectful. After all, it's about friendships and celebrating marriage.
Nice slacks and a knit top would be lovely, do not wear shorts (unless you've got great legs and a tailored shorts-suit). You can never go wrong with a neat skirt and top, but if you're not a skirt-person, slacks are the way to go. Also, this is not a stiletto day. Flats or a mid-heel are more than appropriate for a house-gathering.
(It's best to try to fit in with the crowd at a bridal shower, I went to one in leather pants, stiletto boots and tight tight tank top, but that was the kind of people they were...)

you should wear church clothes meaning that a nice sundress or a skirt and a top would be appropiate for the occasion. if you live in somewhere deathly cold wear some nice slacks and a nice button up top. that is the proper ettiquette when going to a bridal shower.

I don't see anything with wearing a pair of nice jeans and a nice top. You can dress jeans up or down. Be comfortable.

Try wearing a pencil skirt with some heels and a nice blouse. Its not to dress or to casual but don't wear jeans. If that doesn't work you cant go wrong with a black dress and a shawl.

Yeah a nice looking pair of jeans and a nice sweater or shirt. A cute pair of low boots is fine or flats.

yeah thats just fine! Its about getting together with all the woman in the family... its way laid back most of the time!! No one wears dresses for the most part... at most a skirt with a nice shirt to match... but casual skirts :)

You'll never go wrong in nice black slacks and a sweater or nice blouse or twin set. Go light on the jewelry and wear black pants socks with black shoes.

slacks and the nice top...skip the jeans...some may wear them but better to be too dressed up than too dressed down
