Since February of this year I have had a feeling of fatique, pain throughout all of my extremities, and a felling of burning with fever - although my temperature is normal when I take it. I've been to several doctors, including a rheumetologist, an infectious disease doctor, and a neurologist. All the tests come up negative. My family doctor has said that it might be a virus and I'm just going to have to hope it goes away - OR wait until the symptoms worsen! Has anyone else experienced this? Did you ever find a cause?

thats when you wish you had a doctor like House M.D. that wouldnt quit until they found what was wrong with u...lol. yes, i have been there, when the doctor thinks nothing is wrong with you but you feel like crap in so many ways...but i have never experienced what you are suggesting. i would research all of your symptons not only online but at a library...if any diseases/illnesses that you come across sound like what you might have, go to the specialist or your family doctor and tell them what you found out and let them know how concerned you are that something more is wrong than what they may think. god knows you know your body better than anyone else. good luck and feel better!

did the infectious disease doctor test for actual antibodies for any viral infections or did he just do a standard blood, urinalysis lab?

i fought most of my life knowing something was wrong. my bones and joints began aching at 12, at 13 i was seeing a psychologist. by 24 i was sleeping about 18 days. i kept fighting with my doctor because he kept saying i was depressed.

depression does not happen unless something causes it. same thing for bone and joint pain.

fibro (mentioned already in a previous answer to you) is a symptom of something!

i know that ms is the type of disease where there are not really any specific tests unlike the disease hepatitis c.

sometimes with hcv, the alt and ast levels appear non-elevated, which shows the doc that there isn't anything wrong. this is not the case with hepatitis c. your alt and ast levels can be fine one month, high the next, or completely normal the entire time.

Hepatitis C can take decades to finally show it's true colors. those with HCV do not normally turn yellow unless it is acute (fast acting) or during end stage liver disease (when the liver is so bad it and the kidneys quit working).

Have you experienced any dull achiness on your right side around the rib area?
Do you have or have you ever been diagnosed with anything else such as the doctor thinking it's mono or something like the flu but was not sure? Sounds like he is not sure what it is.

A regular doctor does not run the correct testing if he stops at the regular blood lab.

Get tested for antibodies for actual diseases like hepatitis c.

Mine began because of mass innoculation or surgeries i had in the early 70's or when I was an infant...and since it can take up to ten years before you have any known symptoms, it could be that your liver is acting up.

some signs for me was a rash that appeared at the age of 8 that is still with me. it is called spider nevi and is a sign of liver damage commonly known in those with hepatitis c.

many many other symptoms. hair loss, fatigue, bones achey and joints burning (pain). low grade fever. brain fog, depression, other rashes (even shingles which is in the same family of viruses called flavi viruses like hepatitis c)

i would not give up.
i too was diagnosd with fibro...it is gone now thanks to antiviral chemo....I treated my hcv and most symptoms went away, including a rash on my right hand that would not go away no matter what i tried (including prescription creams).

meanwhile, try to cut down on meat. meat these days are full of steroids and additives. we are basically "preserving" what we eat and that can never be a good thing. i have done extensive studies on disease and the syndrome of bone and joint pain in my book is exactly due to the crud they add in food and meat.

good luck and don't let the doctor tell you "he is not sure or can't help you".....that is what he went to school for!

if you ever need to talk, holler heppstephy at yahoo dot com.

hugs!

Yes, I had fatigue and joint pain for 10 years, but as those 10 years progressed, the fatigue and joint pain got worse. It was more annoying than debilitating, but I felt I was too young to feel this way. After I began to feel like I was a hypochondriac, my PCP finally diagnosed me with Hepatitis C. At least I knew I wasn't imagining everything. Two years after I finished treatment for Hep c (6 mos. of chemo-like therapy plus pills) I was free from hep c, the joint pains returned and gradually over 5 years got worse. Just a few months ago, after 5 years of doctor visits, I was diagnosed with rhuematoid arthritis. You have two choices: you can get additional opinions or you can wait until symptoms worsen. I can sympathize with you, been there! Good luck.

Your situation is common. It's typically because there is no answer (medical diagnosis) for the set of conditions you have. Western medicine is a science, and unless your condition falls into a proven diagnosis, there is no honest way to provide you with one. That doesn't mean you aren't ill, or that your experiences aren't real, only that your conditions don't fit into a specific category. I always feel helpless when confronted with someone in your position. Know that your health care providers are concerned about you even if they can not provide you with a diagnosis.

Yes, for many years. I, too, got discouraged and did my own research. It turns out I have fibromyalgia. All of your symptoms and more is common with Fibro. It is a disease for which there is no cure. Look up fibromyalgia at webmd.com and print out the symptoms and present them to your doctor. If he is up on new medical terms, he will definitely know what it is.... You will have this for the rest of your life...I know because I have had it for over 10years. Pain 24/7. Please seek medical opinions and if you are not satisfied, seek out a second opinion. Good Luck to you...
