The brownstones in Park Slope are now fetching over one million dollars. Seventh Avenue is trendy. A lot of young professionals have moved into that neighborhood. And if you like parks, there's Prospect Park which is on the eastern side of Park Slope. As far as Brighton Beach, plenty of Russian immigrants there. The neighborhood is nice, the best part, however, it's close a beach, right next door to the Atlantic Ocean. Also interesting shopping in Brighton Beach.

Park Slope is a residential area that is a nice place to live (If you work in Manhattan) but is not a particularly interesting place to visit. Brighton Beach, on the other hand, is very interesting. It has Russian delis, markets, bakeries & bookstores & its own beachfront. It also adjoins the Coney Island rec area. But unless you are a retiree who speaks Russian, who would want to live there?

Park Slope is lovely, but kind of pricey. Parts are really pretty, parts are trendy, there's lots of shopping and many good restaurants.
