I like to travel but would like to find someone around my age and same interest to share the cabin.

cruiselines have cut down on single shares tremendously in the last few years, probably over a fear of a potential lawsuit if your cruiseline appointed roommate pushed you overboard or something. i think some of them still offer this service but i couldn't tell you which lines for sure. you'd have to call around. my sister is 35 and finds roommates on cruiseline message boards. try cruisecheap.com or cruise-chat.com. of course a certain degree of risk goes with something like that... i personally have been on several cruises with family members and had a blast.

Hmm..... I think some of this would depend on how big the ship is, and how large the rooms are. Will the cabin be used primarily for sleeping, or other, ahem, activies? Will there be enough places on the ship for you and your wife to have some privacy without your friend always being there? I'm inclined to think that even if your wife says she's ok with this, she may not be totally honest, and may have some reserved feelings. Here's an idea. Just a thought. Find out if there are singles agencies booked for that cruise. If there are, maybe your friend could get paired with another solo traveler, leaving you and your wife to some privacy. You may also check cruisemates or cruiscritics and see if there are solo travelers looking for a roommate on a cruise. Or.... see if the cruiseline offers suites, or single occupancy. Although a "campout at sea" might be fun...... something tells me that you and your wife may end up regretting the decision to have all 3 of you share the same room. I think it's better to error on the safe side.

Most cruise lines have a Single Partner Program where they will find another traveler of the same sex and approx age to travel with you.

Ms Mary;
The cruise lines will set this up for you. Check out their sites. A friend did this summer and not only made anew friend but, also had the time of her life. Even if you do not hit it off there are plenty of friendly people aboard to spend your time and share your interests. Good Luck.

Actually this isn't done by agents all the time in fact I have never heard of this. There isn't a demand for this to be done. For Europe tours several companies however have a single supplement room where you can opt for a roommate to lower the cost. This is determent on if another also wants a roomie of course. Good Luck!
