If someone is a good person (whatever that means) but just doesn't believe in God or, perhaps, doesn't believe in the "right" God then do you think it makes sense that God we be so petty and childish as to condemn that person? Where is the wisdom in that? Where is the charity?

Most of all where is the forgiveness?

This is one of those things that I believe is a big stumbling block for the Christian faith. According to their bible interpretation, everyone who goes to heaven has to accept Jesus as the son of God and that He died for their sins. This acceptance must come before they die. It does not matter if they were the very best person whoever lived on earth, because in the garden of Eden, Eve and Adam because of Eve, sinned and that sin is passed thru the blood to all generations. And God cannot look upon sin and it's either heaven or hell, period. In other words, you can't get there any other way, this way or the hell way.
This is not loving, forgiving, compassionate or understanding.
It also does not coincide with the image of a self sacrificing deity. Big problem for a lot of ppl.

There is no good people in Gods eyes as pertaining to being good enough to merit heaven.All the good work we can do is filthy rags.
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
There will be a lot of good people in our eyes go to hell.That is why Jesus came so we could be given his righteousness to go.Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

It all comes down to your measure of faith. God gives everyone a chance to be saved that's why if you hear the word of God and you feel his spirit you need to repent and ask Jesus to be your Lord and savior, you will be held accountable if you hear the truth and turn it away. We are all sinners that's why Christ died, so he could make a way for us to be reconciled with God. I personally know it's real because I have felt the spirit of God, it is undeniable. You just have to believe; that is what faith is. God loves you he doesn't want to see anyone go to hell, he died for everyone, don't try to look at it through a scientific stand point or you will never believe it. Just read the bible, talk to a preacher or someone in ministry. God realizes that we all make mistakes and not accepting him as lord and savior is a mistake, but you have a chance to make it right, please do before it's too late.

...You must understand what the Bible says about the human race - we are all by nature and by choice in rebellion against God. There are no "good people". Read this from Romans 3:
10 As it is written:
“ There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
13 “ Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“ The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “ Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
...And Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
...One more thing - the creature is morally responsible to his/her Creator, and not vice-versa.
************************************************************
...For IMAPPAM: It is loving and gracious that God would provide any way out at all. He has provided a Savior and invites all to come and believe on Him - He did not have to do this.

Jesus, Himself, when they called Him good said, "Why do you call me good? There's none good but One, that is, God." Matthew 19:17 (keeping in mind this was before His death, burial, resurrection, and ascention and before God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every other name). If Jesus said this about Himself - even knowing who He was even then - this makes it pretty clear where the rest of us stand.

There is no name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

It's about knowing Jesus. It's His Father's house, and Father's throne is there. You and Jesus don't know each other, you ain't movin' in. It's as simple as that.

EDIT: But then, since I'm not God, I don't know all things. I only know that Jesus holds the keys to death and hell, and that His love was no less for me than it was for the ones who don't know Him. He paid the same price for us both. Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down His life for His friends. John 15:13. And while we were yet God's enemies, Christ gave His life for the ungodly. Romans 5:6, 5:8, 5:10

Our God is a jealous God, we should
have no other God before him!!

I think if you read the old testament,
you'll find out the consequences of
those who worshipped other Gods like BAAL, Golden and Bronze idols.

Why don't you ask this same questions to God on the day you have to meet him--your maker!!!

Purely from a Christian perspective:
God is perfect. He will not let anyone any less than perfect into his presence. He wouldn't be perfect if he did. It doesn't matter how "good" you are, by yourself, you cannot be "perfect". Its not a matter of the good in your life outweighing the bad, its a matter of never doing anything bad even once in your entire life. Its impossible to do that.

Thats where Jesus comes in, He was perfect, but was punished for sins, our sins. By simply accepting his offered gift, we can transfer our sins onto him and become perfect in God's sight.

1. God will not condemn--Jesus will judge.
2. He will not condemn those who HE considers "good", but He WILL condemn those who WE may consider "good".

Only the righteous shall be saved.

Where is the wisdom?
Is it wise to put your clean clothes with your dirty one's? How much more unwise is it to put clean souls with dirty one's?

Where's the charity (love)?
Absolutely there! He loves the dirty enough to offer them perfect purity (cleanliness), but they must say that they WANT to be clean. Otherwise, He loves them enough to allow them to CHOOSE to be dirty.

Where is the forgiveness?
Right here...right now...for the rest of your life! Take advantage.

It doesn't get more fair (just) than that! *smile*

Peace.

The punishment for not believing in God is seperation from God. People who don't believe in God choose to be seperate from Him. I just hope they don't find out what it's really like to have this seperation total and eternal.
