Yep, it means something like "so be it." It's sort of like the ancient Middle East sheep...herder equivalent of "Uhhh, hey God, this is my final draft!"

Surely The Lord God would do nothing but He revealeth His secrets to His servants the prophets. He wouldn't have an email, search His word instead of daydreaming.

I have no idea why christians say "Amen". It was originally the name of a pagan god. Pagans tend not to use it anymore so as not to be confused with christians. (IMO, tho some may have other reasons such as traditional paths they follow. I use Hagel or Heilsa, myself.)

When you say it when other people have prayed out loud it is your agreement that you wish the same things that were prayed for.
