When Jesus was on the cross, he asked his Father why he has forsaken him (Jesus). If God and Jesus were the same person, then who was Jesus talking to?

the Father Son and Spirit are not the same PERSON for th exact reason you gave (and you just refuted a heresy called the sybellian trinity...CONGRATULATIONS!!! )

the athanasian trinity says there are three persons with one divine essense, Jesus is NOT the same person as the FATHER and can pray to Him but they are the SAME in divine nature and essense

When Jesus was on the cross, He was talking to God the Father. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are three separate entities, but they all agree with one another, 1 John 5:7.

When Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God the Father came down in the form of a dove, and a voice came down from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased", Matthew 3:16-17.

When the world was being created, God the Father said, "Let us make man in our image". Genesis 1:26-27. Who was there with him? Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

To say it again, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one and the same, yet separate. Hope this helps you.

There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are all one yet three separate. It's like a 3 leaf clover, 3 separate petals on one stem. Jesus is God in the flesh. He was talking to the Father while on the cross and God the Father was watching His own Son die for our sins. Did you know that if you were the only person in the world, Jesus loves you so much that He would have died just for you. You only need to accept Him as you Savior and let Him rule in your life. God NEVER forsake Jesus, remember in the garden of Gethsamene, Jesus said, "Not My will but Your will be done." The nails did not hold Jesus on the cross, His love for mankind held Him to that cross. Jesus willing gave His life for you and me.

It's not about "the" church. We are the church. We are the bride that Jesus returns for. The Bible is very specific on this. Paul had to reprimand many churches for their interpretation of the Gospel he presented. Lord Jesus Himself had a message for the seven churches in His Revelation. This goes on to this day. Keep in mind that we are all imperfect, and we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We are also warned not to be blown about by every wind of doctrine that comes down the pike. If your desire truly is to spend eternity in God's loving embrace, then by all means do so. That is why we are commanded to "study to show ourselves approved". Things of the spirit can only be discerned by the spirit, so get to it. As for your objections, I agree for the most part. However, I would like to state that some of them are incorrect. In our church, which is an old manufacturing building that made aircraft parts, there are no spires, ornate pews or anything of that nature. We do, in fact, support a number of missions, which is where the tithes go for the most part. Our Pastors are not paid, and the church runs a food pantry that feeds about 1500 families. We have active missions in India, where we have built a home for orphans, complete with a medical facility. Our senior Pastor has planted churches in Haiti, and the Domenican Republic, and we are now sending teams to the Navajo Nation, to help with rebuilding. The list goes on and on, but the point is, there may be some who manipulate the doctrine, but there are yet again,at least as many that do not. It appears to me that you have just landed in the wrong church. Be well.

Hi,

Let my give it a try also. However I do like the comment made by the woman who gave the explanation that although she wears many 'hats' (as do all adults to some degree) i.e. mother ,daughter, aunt, teacher etc. she remains one person. I've never thought of it that way but she may be closer to the truest explanation than all of us. Anyway, I have believed for some time that God is three distinct persons and yet exists as one entity E.g. consider an egg, it is one object with shell, white and yolk. Similarly there is one God who exists as three persons Father, Son(Jesus) and Holy Spirit. Hope this helps.

You start with a wrong idea: "God and Jesus are supposed to be the same person" ... "God and Jesus were the same person".

Don't know who told you that!!

The Christian Faith is that
There is ONE God
Who has revealed Himself eternally existent as THREE "PERSONS".

From all eternity the Father and the Son had had perfect fellowship; when Jesus "became sin" for us, that sin separated Him from His Father. On the Cross He was crying out to the Father ... crying because of that separation, and yet even then He cried out using the words of the Tanakh (the O.T.).

We have finite minds; God is infinite. There are some things that our finite minds are unable to "understand"; God has revealed them to us; we accept them by faith, because they exceed our finite minds.

That is a really good point. Who was he praying to in the garden of gethsemane? When he said not my will but yours be done?
Matthew 26:39
Acts 7:55 Stephen saw this before his death and reported .
But, he being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God's glory and of Jesus standing at God's right hand.

Jesus was an ordinary man like me and most men. He was no God. People watched him died on the cross and later they made up stories. As time went by, more new stories added to existing stories by new group of people and today Christianity has fully developed and become a religion.
