I met a woman and we went back to my place. She said I had to use a condom because we were each having sex with everybody that each of us had slept with. Being a joker asked her if she was bisexual. She said, "no, I only like men." I replied, "well then, if I am having sex with everyone you had sex with, wouldn't that make me gay?" I thought this was pretty quick and funny. She didn't see the humour in the question. She got dressed and left.
Question: Why are people so uptight and serious when it comes to humour concerning sex?
I know there will be lots of smartass comments and it's OK because I like a good laugh but I would appreciate some serious insight as to what exactely I did wrong.
Thanks.

Thanks for the great responses. I wish I could give everyone 10 points (except Joe) but we all know that can't happen. Although I understand and respect the opinion of Joe, I am not a player and try to honest with myself and others. I am working in Las Vegas right now and I think this lady was looking for a "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" experience (unless you go home with an STD). This one night stand thing is not the norm for me but she was/is very attractive and, yes Joe, I should have stayed focused and kept the humourous side of me a little more restrained.

Sorry Joe, I gave you the thumbs down and now your input is hidden. Does anyone know how to open it back up?

you must understand SOME women are so uptight if you say the wrong thing , they get offended....me personally, i think it was funny I would have said " ha ha" and pounced on you, hey but thats me.....or maybe she really thought you were being a smartass instead of joking...i don't know some people are just wierd and can't take a joke....be more picky next time, i guess.... good luck hon,

So where exactly do you live?!! ;)
A lot of people are so insecure about sexuality that they cannot see the humour. It's like sex is this big dirty secret that (although it's really, really fun) we have to be all serious and sultry about; lest one see us snorting with glee at the absurdities that it sometimes includes.
Really, you did nothing wrong. You might have actually done yourself a favour (in the long run) as you unintentionally weeded out someone that was unsuited to your particular personality. Don't fret. Some day some condom carrying maiden will happen along that will enjoy your joke, and from there the sky is the limit...

Well, I bet you won't do that again.
Brother, she wanted to get her romance on and you want to get your intellectual on. What the ....? Next time play the game, get the puss and then spring your ignoramus on her.
How would you respond if she blurted out that she caught her ex- boyfriend in bed with another man while you were trying to put on that condom. Come on dude use your head.
There is no forgiveness for such a f... up. You are hereby declared gay until you can successfully get the task done without any attempts at intellectual gay jokes.
And in no way is she to blame. You are totally at fault.

PS - it wasn't funny

I have to agree with the group, man! What an uptight priss! especially for someone willing to sleep with a relative stranger on the first night.
I thought that your comments were pretty funny and I guess given the right moment (like that one) it would be hilarious. But hey, she didn't think so and that's her problem. Too bad you didn't score.

because people only like engaging in the act. most people don't like to talk about it before, during or after. if you just met her somewhere and she came home with you and was ready to jump in the sack, she shouldn't have gotten offended about a pretty hilarious comment. but on the other hand, she may have thought you were bisexual and she might not have been comfortable with that scenario... next time I hope you find someone with a better sense of humor... i thought it was funny

LOL...that was pretty funny, really!
What you did wrong is that you were trying to be a smart aleck, when she was hoping you'd be Fabio.
Stopping to get the condom out was enough of a break in the action...Cracking stupid jokes was just enough to get her all the way back out of the mood.
Not to mention the fact that you essentially calling yourself gay is generally not a turn-on to women.

Perhaps you made her feel foolish with your wit at such a personal and private time. I don't know, maybe its just me, but if I was having sex with a virtual stranger I might not be in the joking mood.... and then again, maybe she just wanted to get it on!

That was pretty funny. She was pretty fussy for a woman who would hop in bed with just anyone.

Yeah..I agree, seems kind of fussy for a woman who'd jump into bed with someone she'd just met.
