Honestly, I don't really know much about them. I know what they were but that's about it. I decided to do my European History paper on them though so that I will learn more about what happened......so feelings, opinions, facts or anything would be helpful! Thank you!

I don't really know if this is in the correct category but I figured that because they were in the name of Christendom....

there was allot of political gamemanship then, the crusades sometiimes had more to do with economics than spirituality

I think allot of the people in the crusades were sincere, but sincerely wrong and posisbly many were Chrstians in name only
possibly an example of something done in Jesus name that Jesus would arguably not have approved of?

you know your in serious trouble when Bible translators became public enemy #1 which shows the gamesmanship and polisitcal jockying sadly made God's word take a back seat to economics and power plays

The Crusades were a series of military campaigns conducted in the name of Christendom and usually sanctioned by the Pope. They were of a religious character, combining pilgrimage with militarism. When originally conceptualized, the aim was to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Muslims while supporting the Byzantine Empire against the "ghazwat" of the Seljuq expansion into Anatolia. The fourth crusade however was diverted and resulted in the conquest of Constantinople. Later crusades were launched against various targets for a mixture of religious, economic, and political reasons, such as the Albigensian Crusade, the Aragonese Crusade, and the Northern Crusades.

Killing to make people christian....a wonderful concept.......stupid. Evangelism with guns, is about the modern day equivalent. There are many resources online that will give you dates and facts. Just don't hold it too much against a faith
