Um first of all, you're not the most important person and you dont speak the most important language. And second, english isn't even the official language of the U.S.

You sheeple are unbelievable, and naïve, your so willing to go with the flow, don't want to make waves. The voice on the other line wants you to push one for English but if you don't push one for English, it will automatically start speaking Spanish. That's the rub. Since there are more English speaking people in America it should stand to reason the pushing a button should be for any other language, other than English. There, I tried to dumb it down so some people with half a brain can understand the conundrum of the situation.

Yes, because people whose first language is not English will want the option to select their own language.

Depending on the automated service that you call, you might be able to get away with pressing 1 prematurely, i.e. before you've heard the entirety of your prompt. This would be useful particularly in situations where you press the same sequence of digits to get to a particular menu item two or three levels down.

Companies just want to make profit. They don't care if a country's official language is this or that. If they have sizeable enough a clientele, they would want to speak its language, they would want to sell products to them as well. In other words, they don't care if one dollar of profit comes from an English, French or Korean speaking; a dollar of profit is a dollar.

Such profit helps the economy to keep running. As more Spanish or Chinese speaking buy products, the effect is felt alongside a production chain: suppliers, distributors, etc... Jobs are created. More Americans are keeping their jobs. Those disappearing jobs...

Yes? I'm not sure about your question. Do you want to know if there should be a choice of other languages? Do you feel that English should be the only option?

I think everyone should try and learn the mother tongue of the country they live in, but certain things should be available in their native tongue for better understanding.

Yup you sure do! There's good reason for it. The US economy reaches out GLOBALLY and not everyone speaks english. Also, with the # of people here on educational, commercial, or military exchange, there are a number of people in the USA who are paying taxes and supporting our country otherwise who need services but haven't been here long enough to have a good grasp of the language.
