I have SSD for the last 11 yrs. http://www.socialsecurity.gov really is not a bad site. You can call this number too if you want its toll free. 1-800-772-1213 (I took that number from one of my letters from SS.
You didn't mention whether you are looking to apply or applied and was turned down. If you haven't applied then just go to your local SS building and go right ahead and fill out the paperwork.
If you were rejected. I know they reject everyone once. But be warned that those "Lawyers" that say they will help you get your disability (thankfully I was approved the second time) They are (for lack of a better term) crooks. What happens is the date you apply will be the date you will get your money in back pay to the day you were approved. Now these Attorneys stall it forever so the longer it takes you when they do get you approved they take a HUGE cut from the money due to you.
