I chew a piece of gum for 2-3 hours. After that, it loses its flavor and I start another piece.

As long as I want to. It's still there, isn't it? Once, I sleep with a piece of gum in my mouth (really had happened). Sometimes you don't even know you are chewing gum, and you can chew for a day.

I once chewed a piece for about 6 hours when all of the sudden it liquified like a gummy bear; it was wicked. There must be a certain point where the gum just breaks down.

I chew it until the sugar is gone but some people keep on chewing b/c it calms their nerves. But as far as the length of time suitable for pure taste, I'd say again until the sugar is gone b/c by then it doesn't taste as good.

Til it loses its flavor, my jaw hurts, or I'm going to eat something...whichever comes first. However, I very rarely ever chew gum anymore.
