Why are people in this world so inconciderate, I made a typo in one of my questions, and was insulted left and right. "What are you stupid", and other inconsiderate insults. What is the source of all this? What happened to the days when you could say hi to a total stranger, and get a "Hello, how's the weather?" back. When you could leave a quarter on your steps and recieve cold milk in the morning? Why does the majority of the Yahoo! Answers population seem like total inconciderate middle-aged morons who live in their mothers' basements? Why? I'm sorry if anyone was offended, but the truth hurts. And if the boot fits...

I agree, in part. Because this is the age of entittlement. Our culture is now that we think of me, me, me, first, and never quite get around to that second thinking, of someone else.. We are anonymous online, walking around in public, on pur blogs, on the phone, driving our cars [which these days all look alike]. So we say and do whatever we want.
I can tell you one. I have a soft-sided lunch box, with a double zipper, it is red and black, and I left the manufacturer tags on it, on purpose, for easy identification. Yesterday at work,, I did not eat all my lunch , no time, and I put a bag with candy in it back in the box, closed it, and left my soda sitting beside it. I came back hours later, my stomach roaring, hoping to find a snack there. No, the now empty sack of candy was on the table. And when I asked, the division troublemaker informed me that I had left the candy out, and even if I did not, the fact that my lunch box was left out on the table entittled anyone to eat it. You have got to be kidding.
But I disaggree with you on who is causing the problems, here. It is not all middle-aged basement dwelling morons, yes, there are some. But a lot is from younger people. Every other word is bleeped out, and the topic of discussion seems to be body excretions and secretions, and what to do with them, since they do not seem to have been taught what a toilet is, or that oatmeal is food, not a repository for body fluids.
Even I get aggrevated, and get on my "high horse." In one answer, I referred to the questioner as "young man" and corrected his grammer,[his question was in critisizing people who used bad grammer here]. but the rest of my answer was nice. He gave me a best answer, and rated it 5-stars. Another was last night, and I was italisizing letters, and upset about the availability of people here who subject children to porn talk. The questioner had not specifically mentioned it, she was asking and it is rude to bring up topics in an answer that have not been asked. So in a nicer gentler way, I am inconsiderate, too.
We all are, in some way, somewhere, rude. It is the degree to which rudeness is carried, and the fact that there are almost 300 million of us now in the US, more people to be rude.
We were discusing rude drivers several night ago, and I agreed with the questioner, too many! I could not drive 2 miles to the hospital and 2 miles back without getting nearly run over too many times to count. I was over the speed limit most of the time, and I drive a red sports car with a spoiler, so you know I am not slow! Please forgive my spelling, spellcheck is down, as usual.

I wish I knew why people are inconciderate. It happens all the time. I'm old fashioned and believe in treating everyone with respect, treating others the way I want them to treat me. But it is so rare that others are respectful these days. Could be the music, videos, movies or television. I really don't know for sure, since I don't listen to modern music, watch videos, movies or television, but that COULD be the answer.

I think our society has become increasingly self-centered. People have abandoned values which are seen as "old-fashioned" or "politically incorrect". They seem to go wherever their own desires or impulses lead them. Morality seems to be dictated by the situation or one's own whims. Nobody seems to have any respect.
What we see on-line mirrors our society, although it's greatly exaggerated here. The relative anonymity of the Internet, I think, emboldens some people. It's possible to assume a different identity & largely avoid any consequences. You may be familiar with "Internet trolls", who make a sport of this.
BTW, I'm not offended. I agree with you.

Because people feel more free to say whatever they want when they aren't looking you in the face to see your reaction. It's quite antisocial - not a good thing. I try to keep that all in check and I don't complain about typo's or even obvious misspellings. I have to admit though, my answers can reflect my mood sometimes. You're right though - I guess it makes people feel superior to point out flaws in others.

THAT IS THE SAME QUESTION I KEEP ASKING.,,,,why are some people so inconsiderate of others...it is all about ME, ME AND MORE ME!!! i think it is how they were raised...i mean they are down right insulting...i deal with them by just "walking away"...i do not have to listen to their crap....and a lot of times it is NOT all the way true...the person who said that to you is abusive...if someone would say that to me...all i would say is..."MY, that was rude..."...how insulting..."are you stupid??"...i would also report her if she were my boss...but i do not know if this was at work or elsewhere...My sympathy goes out to you...no one has the RIGHT TO ABUSE YOU!!! Keep a journal..

My theory - because we've become a less violent society, and violence is certainly not an issue online. Back then, if you were a kid who was rude to your elders, you'd get a slap. Insult someone in the street or a bar, you could end up missing a tooth.

i ask myself that same question everyday bro. it seems like everywhere i go people r in it for themselves and themselves only. it seems like no one cares about anybody anymore. "look out for number 1" is what im told. but, i work at a hospital, and im reminded everyday that there r still people nowadays that give selflessly. people who r willing to go out of there way to heal others and to make others happy. total strangers even. instead of looking at it in the way u asked ur question, just remind urself that there r people in the world who care for others and give selflessly. and make it a point to do it urself. words speak loudly, but actions speak louder. people react to example, and what better example to set than to give before u get. maybe someday, the majority of the people who "look out for number 1" will realize how much more satisfying it is to give to others and to be unselfish is. until then, lets show them how its done. maybe it'll catch on quicker!

Yeah, you're right. I'm going to try harder to be more thoughtful and kind. Hopefully, others will too.
