I told this guy that I would help him with his chem and calc homework. I happen to dislike this person very much, but I am going to help him nonetheless...I said I would help him all day today, but I want to go out tonight around 8. What should I tell him to blow him off early?

a good excuse would be...." I am sorry, but i will have to leave by 7:30 pm...cause i have other plans that i had forgot about...if he is NOSY ENOUGH TO ASK you ..."what are your plans"...just say ..."Oh, something private...that's all"...so lets start with chemistry....."Since you do not like him, he does not need to know what your other plans are...." and you will most likely not be friends with him anyway!!! i hope that helps...

Grow a backbone.

First, if you dislike the person and don't owe him anything, then learn to say "no".

Second, what does "all day" mean to you? Twenty-four hours with time off for meal breaks? By 8 PM "the day" is over, unless you don't get up until like 2 PM.

Quit any time after 6 PM. Tell him "never again". Enjoy your evening.

you should have thought about that before you offered to help him. it seems as if you're stuck with the commitment you've made. strange concept, i know, but that's they way the world works. next time, think about what you are agreeing to before you agree. just remember, any excuse you come up with has the chance of happening. don't bring that bad luck on yourself. go out later tonight. who says 8 pm is the deadline. you can always catch up with people at a later time, because as I said before, you have a prior engagement

Be honest. Tell him that other plans have come up that is important to you. Have you helped him? I can't imagine taking ALL day to study. If you have been studying for some time, it's time for a break, because by now, he's not absorbing what your telling him. A brain can only concentrate for so long. If you need to, help him again tomorrow.

Tell him the truth that you really do not like him as much as you said you did and you want to spend time with some one else tonight. If you are a true christian, you would help him, because it says you should love your neighbor (this boy you need to help him) as you love yourself.

What kind of a wuss are you anyway?
you don't like the person, yet are helping them all day, and now you need an "excuse" to get out of helping all evening????
Just say "I'm done...good luck with that, and leave"

Noon to 6 is enough to qualify as "all day" and should give you enough time to eat dinner and get ready to go out. Seriously, when you're doing it for no pay you can hardly be expected to really donate 24 hours to this guy.

Try telling the truth excuses are a child's cop out.
