A friend told me a strange way to check for anemia. She said to take a penny and drag it along the soft, smooth underside of your arm. If it left a black streak, you are anemic. It sounds really weird, does anyone know if this is legitimate?

It's not supposed to bruise you, I think it's some sort of reaction with something in the penny.. I don't know. When I did it, it left a streak that could be wiped off.

Forget about it. Just spend that penny to get your haemoglobin tested in a lab. If you want to assess your own self have a look at your tongue and if it is pale you may consider having anaemia. You may also like to look into the inner part of your eye lid, and you can easily examine your lower eye lid by pulling it down. See the colour of the insides of the eye lid; if it is pale, then you have an alibi to suggest that you have some degree of anaemia.

AHHHHHH..... A penny saved is a penny earned. Really true! because think about this in real life... Let say you have $10000 and you spent 99% percent of it.. you will have $100 left. So if you don't use it and keep saving your money day by day..... you wouldn't be poor! Please Pick ME :) :D

There's no way that would work. If the object was to bruise yourself, that can happen regardless of whether or not you're anemic. Your friend is mistaken.

I'm not really sure if that is true. the best way to test if your anemic is to see a doctor.

No such animal! And bruises have nothing to do with anemia and everything to do with coaggulation disorders.

I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE PENNY, BUT I CHEWED 7-8 LBS. OF ICE A DAY WHEN I HAD IT. ONCE IT WAS CURED, I NEVER WANTED ICE AGAIN.

Maybe I didn't do it right, and I am anemic, it did not work for me.
Sorry.
