What kind of surgery? There are a couple of types to treat obesity. There is bariatric surgery and there is stomach stapling. Either one reduces the amount of food you can eat. One of the drawbacks is that you can stretch your stomach back out if you try hard enough. Another problem is that you don't absorb vitamins as well, and have to take vitamin supplements.

A problem with any "diet clinic" is that if they don't teach you how to eat healthy, when you leave you'll go back to your old habits.

Regardless which you choose, you have to make a commitment to lose weight and to keep it off. This will mean some serious lifestyle changes. You have to decide what is right for you. What is right isn't always what is easy.

Good luck!

This is a hard decision to make. One thing is for sure - a surgery is irreversible and always is a risk. You can have serious side effects. And whether you staple or stomach or cut away other pieces (you should stay away from Liposuction, very risky) - this is then done and for a life time and can ot be changed, reversed or anything.

Therefore - if you are seriously really motivated - the better choice may be to try a diet in a clinic. And hopefully they also teach you to change your eating habits so that the weight loss is durable.
The really positive side is here that you would not need to alter your body with unknown outcome. When you eat little for a long time the stomach and digestive system shrinks back too. So this is the much healthier choice.

Surgery sounds "easier" because you spare yourself another diet.

Hey - if your diet in the clinic fails then you can still consider a surgery. But - I would avoid a surgery at any cost. You have only this one body in this life, treat it well.

I wish you the best success!

Try this it was invented by a dietitian for obese people who need an operation in two weeks time.
There is enough for one week so freeze half freshly made to last the week.
I cheated and did it for a whole month every other month went from a 40in waist to a 32in without to much effort.

Operation Soup

Ingredients.

3 large onions
1 large or two small green peppers
1 bunch of celery
½ head of green cabbage
1 leek
2 tin chopped tomatoes
1 packet of French onion soup (any brand)
3 vegetable stock cubes (I use oxo)

Cut all vegetables into bite size pieces if your not going to liquidize.
Place all in a large pot add enough water to cover.
Simmer until vegetables are cooked add more water if necessary.

NOTE
To be eaten as a two meal replacement (largest and the smallest).
You can still have a light lunch or light evening meal.
Should not exceed 5 days at a time and 10 days a month.
You will pass more water so make sure you keep up your water intake.

I used to be in your shoes... As you already should know - the real problem is in your mind - but your body has something to do with it too. For your mind I would suggest you read books by the author Geneen Roth... here is a link to her web site: http://www.geneenroth.com/ "When Food is Love" is one of her many very helpful books.
Also, for your body, might I suggest this excellent book:
"Strong Women Stay Slim"...
I suggest these books because they will give you the lasting results you need. Losing weight quickly on the plans you mentioned will deplete your body of muscle - and muscle is what burns calories... Thus, you will gain the weight back quickly... But you must address the issues in your mind that keep you emotionally entangled with food.

You don't have to buy these books - if you live in an area with several large libraries - they just may have them for you to borrow for free.

I also prayed alot. God bless you - I hope you find the solution you need.

I have checked all venues and I feel like surgery is the best way to go......I have tried so many diets and diet pills it is a wonder I am still going but to no avail and I can't have the surgery or I would because I have seen great results from it. So if it were me go with the surgery just listen to every thing the doc tells you. I believe you will be happy with the surgery and the results.

I've never heard of the rice diet, but I would recommend that you consider different options besides surgeries. Sure, there are a few success stories, but there are horror stories also. I work in a hospital, and I've seen people that never recover after surgery when they get an infection. Too many complications... trust me!
Talk to your doctor about your concerns, and consult a Registered Dietician.
Good luck to you, and I hope this helps!

Have you tried TOPS Club? My mother-in-law has been a member for 40 years and she lost the weight she needed to lose and has kept it off. She likes the fact that there were several other women in the club who also needed to lose weight and they could discuss weight loss methods, their successes, failures and other things. Sometimes it's good to get with a group with the same problems--you can keep each other motivated.
