You made it clear you'd be open to going out... but "sometime" is not "asking him out". If you said "Wanna get together on Saturday at 2PM", that's asking him out.

Just depends. It could have come off as more of an invite from a friend. If you are friends and hang out in the past or were amongst a group of friends when you brought it up, it could have come off as just hanging out and not asking him out.

All according to perspective: If you meant it as a friend and nothing more, then no. But he may definitely take it as an ask out. Next time, preface it by saying something like, Wow, you're such a fun friend--want to hang out sometime?

No, you asked him to be a friend. Try something more direct, call him and ask him out to a movie with mutual friends first, then somewhere alone second.
