Very awkward. Don't do it, she will likely stop talking to you. Besides, a girlfriend is supposed to be someone you have known for a while and are close to. Don't date someone for the sake of having a girlfriend.

Don't jump the gun, it will jeopardize your chances. Take it slow. Keep talking to her, and maybe eventually you can ask her to study with you for midterms/finals.
