Why would he have a son for the sole purpose of dying for our sins? To be omnipotent is to be all-powerful, which means that he could've done ANYTHING to solve that pesky little problem, so why did he choose the sacrifice of a human being? Is it that he's not really omnipotent, or is it just that he's bloodthirsty and sadistic?

LOL you touch on a good point.
If something is all-powerful, perfect and good, then there wouldn't be so much as a sliver down here. Never mind the astounding amount of injustice, murder, suffering and death that we do find here.
The fact is; there is no god. Never was, never will be...

Spookshow Baby,
I think that you are skipping the Resurrection? It's not a problem that was His, it was a problem that was ours. He came after us, and He knew wht He was doing before He did it.

You see, when I look at the way you just asked all that, together with your statements, I see a whole lot of overlooking that you should get straightened out so that you don't have to keep going on like you are.

Just trying to answer the question AND help you understand it.

"If your god is truly omnipotent...?"
So yes, as I understand the word 'omnipotent' God is that.

"Why would he have a son for the sole purpose of dying for our sins?"
As I said before, He was Resurrected. And by that showed that God would keep His promise, was able to do it, and will do the same for us. The Resurrection was the plan all along. So the dying part, it ain't sh*t! It isn't nothing. It doesn't mean a thing to me. The Resurrection, a blessing and a promise from God.

"To be omnipotent is to be all-powerful, which means that he could've done ANYTHING to solve that pesky little problem, so why did he choose the sacrifice of a human being?"
It's the way He chose to do it. And He was planning to do it all along, before the worlds were formed. He knew that IF He made the worlds, He would have to do what He did. So the pivital point was before it all happened, not after it all happened.

Did that just make sense? lol

"Is it that he's not really omnipotent, or is it just that he's bloodthirsty and sadistic?"
That's up to you. It's an attitude fixation. There you go. You get to make the choice. You ever hear the song, "Attitude Adjustment"?

Other people have answered other aspects. But just because God is all powerful does not mean that He literally can do anything. It means He has the power to do whatever He chooses, since sinning is against His very nature, He cannot sin. But that is not a limitation of His power. God is unwilling that Justice not be met, so though He could have blinked the sins of the world away in a sense, He could never have done this, because it would be to go against Himself. God met Justice by punishing Himself for sinners. He is all powerful, and He showed He was all-merciful on the cross.

You've never read the bible have you?

Okay, GOD is omnipotent, but there had to be a price paid for all the sins, that's why in the OT people sacrificed lambs for forginvess. Jesus is referred to as the lamb of GOD, All our sins were put on Him, GOD even turned His face from His own son as He died on the cross. Jesus cried out "father why have you forsaken me?" GOD didn't choose the sacrifice of a human being, He chose to send His son to pay the price so you wouldn't have to and yet you choose not to accept His free gift of salvation. Why?

If you were all powerful what would you do with your power?
I suppose you would be all-knowledgeable as well, right?
So if god was indeed omnipotent then he must have good reason for doing it.
Therefore, for us, who are not omnipotent, we will fail to understand what's going on.
Hence, god is not bloodthirsty or sadistic. He is justified. Because he is omnipotent.

Indeed you are right. God could have redeemed mankind by a mere act of his divine will. He didn't "have to" sacrifice His Son. God doesn't "have to" do anything. But God wanted to convey to us the infinite depth of His love for us, and also the absolute horror of sin, so He used a means that would graphically portray both, in a manner we might be able to comprehend.

He is all powerful but he will not go against himself because he is just. That means there must be payment for sin. The debt has to be paid for. God choose not to make you suffer for your own sins, but rather he (Jesus) died in your place to satisfy justice and at the same time satisfy God's mercy for you. Now anyone can receive his mercy and everlasting life. God is holy and everything he does is perfectly just and completely righteous.

Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh. He is not the second person in some trinity. It was the body God created to inhabit for the urpose of reconciling the world to Himself. It was the manner that He chose. And the sacrifice did not stay dead.
Ultimately, no matter what method God chose, you would still be here questioning why He did it that way.

God has always been and will always be. He created Angels for the sole purpose of worshiping him. He created a perfect place for himself his son and The Holy Spirit to dwell in. Satan revolted because he wanted to be God so God cast him out of heaven and he told the angels to make their choise for all time and eternity to warship him or to go with satan. After this great division and loss. God had a perfect world because all the angfels who stayed had to give up their FREE WILL. God then created the earth Heavens land water and animals he Created Adam and he made him to rule over all animals.one simple thing God ask Don't eat of the fruit of the tree of knoledge of good and evil. After a while he created EVE and she was a thing of beauty. She to was given the commandment. She CHOSE TO DISABAY, and then Adam also choose to disobay, THey used their FREE WILL and it cost them their utopia but more that that it cost them their relationship with God. God created the law . It included many laws and sacrafice of animals and the use of ther blood was part of the law, God wanted to prove to man that we could not be Good enough to save ourselves and that we could not find our way back to God. God was saddened bby the seporation between himself and his created people. His Son Jesus volentiered to become the perfect sacrafice that could pay the price for the sins of the world for all time. He came He lived a perfect lif even though he was tempted like all of us are. Ther is NO temptation known to man that jesus did not face but he never compromised. God ask us of our free will to accept that sacricifice and to make him the Lord of our life and to follow his plan for our life. when we surriender our lives to God he does NOT take away our free will we must striove to do that which is holy in his eyes, God knowa that we cannot be perfect so each and every time we make a mistake he is there ready and willing to forgive us.

Because he is a God of humbleness yes he could of done it in a blink of an eye and just killed everyone! But the reason is that he did that for we could have eternal life for the reason that a lot of people were going to hell because of their sins! He had another way and that was it!
