I Have A Pug And She Always Digs At The covers And Couch

it's a dog's natural instinct to dig for several reasons - nesting, burying food, marking territory, etc. does she have any reason to be stressed? any changes in her life recently? if it's ruining the couch or you need her to stop - try hanging her blanket over the bit of the couch she digs, so she feels more secure. otherwise you can make a noisy rattle from an empty plastic bottle with coins in - when she starts to dig, shake the rattle which will distract her - at the same time say very firmly 'leave it'. each time just as she goes to dig (be vigilant and quick off the mark - timing is important), use the rattle and the command and she should stop fairly soon. if she's really stubborn - throw the rattle on the ground near her and use the command. the noise startles her out of the activity - the command lets her know what to do. good luck!

She probably does not realise it's not dirt she's digging.... She probably believes the covers & couch to be the best hiding places!
I have a cat and believe me, she does worse things!!
Good luck!

It is their instincts to dig. In the wild they dig to find food, hide food, and make bedding ground.

She is making a bed. Dogs like to lay in the cool dirt outside and it is a natural instinct

It's call nesting. It is instinctual and both males and females nest. Nesting helps them feel secure and for females it prepares a comfortable place for their pups.
