My wee one is almost 2 and so far we've gotten lucky in that she eats and always has eaten everything and anything. We do however stress a healthier choice so some of what i've made for her hopefully might work for you:
-Rice (brown or white) with broccoli and a bit of cheese, or a lot if she likes it
-fun-shaped pasta with some fresh tomatoes, touch of olive oil, maybe some carrots, even peas
-some fresh carrots, cucumber, broccoli w/ ranch dressing to dip
-chicken salad (i put in relish and mayo), serve w/ low-salt potato chips (they're really good!)
-turkey (i get the low-salt kind) with avocado, some tomato, no bread for my kid, she avoids it
-turkey hot dogs with mac and cheese
-chicken noodle soup (use canned broth for ease and quick-ness, there are tons of varieties), carrots, celery, noodles
-grab some tomato soup and toss in lots of veggies, cooked would be easier, and some noodles or brown rice
-grilled cheese on whole wheat bread, big one here

I tried this recipe, made lots of it and froze some. It was great.
Boil some very small noodles (alphabets, stars...) Steam some cauliflower. Put the steamed cauliflower in a food processer with tomato juice and shredded cheddar cheese. heat up and mix with the noodles. To a toddler it just looks like noodles and sauce, but you know it has vegetables and dairy too!

When my son (also 2) doesn't want to eat what I make I tell him if he takes one bite of the food he can get one bite of bread (his all time favorite thing ever), sometimes he really likes something on his plate and eats all of it and asks for more with out easting anything else and I do bite for bite with what ever it was that he liked. I never use sweets (unless it is a fruit). You can also tell him that he can either eat with you or not eat. And not give him any snack before bed. He will not starve and he will get the picture, you will not bend over backwards for him he needs to compromise with you (and you with him too, have to make it fair). I hope this helps!! Good luck!

For my girls I offer a variety of fixings each day. I try to include atleast one thing I know my girls like for each meal. As long as you offer the full variety she will soon try them and develope a taste for them. If she is hungry she will eat.
One of my favoirte dishes my girls love is mac'n cheese with corn and hotdogs mixed in.
I turn PB&J sandwiches into shapes with cookie cutters and add fruit to the side.
Cook pasta that is in shapes of shells or twists and use sauce as a dip. Add vegies to the side cooked or raw.
My kids prefer some vegetables cooked and others raw.

Peanut butter on a spoon (she will lick it)
Dry cereal that she can nibble on - choose one with vitamins
Sandwich (her favorite) and cut with cookie cutters
Milk or Pediasure (it has vitamins)
Just little nibbles -- you Dr is correct -- very normal for this age. It might last a year or more. Take care and good luck.

Most of the time eating is just a power struggle. Children want to be in charge. If you start making special food for her now you might always be. When she hungry she will eat

pbj sandwich cut in 4
cheese puffs
cheerios
spagetti
ritz crackers
just put it on her high chair tray and let her feel the different textures, she will taste and decide what she likes. just kinda watch her to see what she puts in her mouth and doesnt spit out then you will know...let her play with the food (small amounts) she will let you know what her favorites are.
