Do what you feel like... I personally think that going to the movies alone is a step behind killing yourself (suicide).
Lonelyness is great but... not for movies! See? everyone says it's cool because of the darkness factor. Who are they hiding from? society? you don't need light or dark to do what you please. Just don't go alone, who are you gonna comment or laugh with in the middle of the movie? your popcorn? then they will certainly think you are crazy!

Going to the movies, I feel a lot more comfortable sitting alone in a theatre I mean even if youre with someone else you're watching a movie alone but for dinner most people have conversation and so its a bit weird sitting there alone while everyone around you is chatting.

I have no problem doing either. There are times I want to lose myself in a particular movie, so I will go to a weekday matinee alone and sit near the back - I consider it a treat.
As for going to a restaurant alone, I have an erratic schedule that doesn't always mesh with anyone else's. So, I take either a magazine or book to read while I wait.

either are fine. it just depends on how comfortable you are with the idea. some people are very concerned with what others think so being seen alone eating or at a movie in their minds makes them look loney, friendless, and pathetic.
Personally i have more confidence and self-esteem. It doesnt bother me to do either activity alone. While company is always nice, Sometimes it feels good to do things like that on your own.

i saw star wars episode 3 a total of 8 times. 3 of those were by myself. I mean I was the only one in the whole theater. it was the best movie experience of my life. to answer ur question i think eating by yourself looks a little pathetic.

I do both alone on a regular basis. I happen to enjoy movies and restaurants that my family doesn't usually want to go to. Movies are a bit better because of the "dark factor" and I usually bring something to read while awaiting my meal in a restaurant.

I sometimes go to the movies by myself- just for the heck of it. That way I don't have to compromise with hubby or kids what to watch (hubby likes action movies; kids like animation).... I choose day and time (during the week- daytime) when there are only old folks in the theater... no popcorn munching, no babies crying- ..... absolutely surreal.

Going to the movies. Sometimes I like being by myself. I can focus on me and just enjoy the surroundings. We always need to take a little time out for ourselves.

i think eating by urself is much better, i think people really dont care be it in a fastfood chain or a restaurant that ur by urself, me personally dont need to be with anybody to dine, if im hungry i ate unlike going to the movies that ur supposed or people expected u to be with a date be it friends or romantic, you will look like a pervert if ur by urself

I think you can do whatever is comfortable to you. Its all good! This is why I am grateful to be American where I can do what I want and other people's opinions of my choices can be respected but not obeyed.

AMERICA! Land of the Individualist and other endangered species. Don't be afraid to do anything on your own!
