Duct Tape.
No seriously, (well you are thinking about it aren't you?) It sounds like she's trying to get a reaction from you. Some 19 month olds are ready for potty training, but so so many aren't and are just trying to wrestle control away from you. Does she do stuff like this in other parts of her day? Well then congratulations, you've got a toddler. You need to shake things up alittle bit and decide what she can be in control of. (Elmo or Big bird on her diaper? Sitting on her own potty or the big one?) And you will probably want to get her a potty and start changing her in the bathroom so that she can sit on it after you've cleaned her. You may also want to give her wipes to clean herself after she's done sitting even if she hasn't performed! The bottom line is give her more (limited) control and she probably won't try to bait you as much. In my classroom we change toddlers standing up! ( they aren't as distracted and it's much more respectful to them. Just get two stools one for her to put her hands on as you clean her from behind and another for you to sit on. We have next to no troubles in a bathroom with 19 toddlers :D Good luck.

I realize that even a potty-trained 19 month old still sometimes needs to be in diapers.

For those times, keep her clothing in the way.

Onesies, outfits that snap between her legs, and PANTS.

For getting it on... just hold that little hand out of the way. I would diaper my son with him standing, facing me. I'd hold the front flap in place with my body while I fastened the sides... and keep the fastenings covered until I got clothes over them!

Oh, and I liked that backwards idea!

Good luck!

I have to hold my son down -- he kicks.....there is no nice way sometimes. If you start pull ups at that age you will spend and unneccessary fortune.

For a while with my daughter I put her diapers on backwards.

I was not sure if your problem was during the change or afterwards? Putting pants or one piece outfits on that button in the back are good too.

It is possible that your child is ready to potty train. Try to take them to the potty, just do not force them to go, or it could scare them. Good luck

It might be time to start with potty training since this could be a sign that she doesn't want to wear them anymore.
