As was already mentioned, its a cute joke, but there is one huge problem.
There were 9 lassies. All of them were males playing a female. This according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lassie.
And I Quote: "All 9 Lassies have been male, playing a female character. The female collie loses her coat at least once a year making it unsuitable for use year round. Also, the male is larger and a child actor can play opposite the dog for a longer period of time."

wasnt some of the dogs used in lassie actually males? so then she wasnt an actress and didnt wear the same coat, different dogs if they look the same does not equivalate the same coat :D
