It's not a bad idea. I whacked mine pretty good about 3 months ago, and it didn't start bothering me until 2 weeks later, but I developed a pretty good case of tendonitis out of it that is still bothering me.

The sooner you identify the problem, the sooner you can treat it and heal from it. And if there's no problem, you'll rest easy.

if it hurts, is super swollen or you're worried about it, yes.

but if it's not bad, there's probably nothing a doctor can do for a chip - even if that is what it is. just be gentle with it. maybe put some ice on it.

no, but if it starts chipping later you'll have to repair the wall, which is a bit of a pain - plus you can't always find the exact same tiles! : )
