Yup, he tortures people with diseases like cancer, even innocent babies with horrendous birth defects. He tortures us mentally by giving us rational brains while demanding faith but being unwilling to give us any reason we can get our brains around to have any faith. Creates natural disasters - called "Acts of God" by the insurance company. Allows nations to murder and pillage by calling on his name.
And then we are supposed to swallow that he is all-knowing, all-powerful, AND all-loving and still puts us through all that garbage?
It feels wonderful to be free of all that!

I wouldn't say that. At this moment you consider God and his people, us, as you and your dog. You treat God as he is human and we as his objects, which he is able to do whatever he wants with. I would deny any meaning to the question: "is god a sadist?". Because it seems fundamentally absurd to sugges that God can have sadistic tendencies.
As a response to your question, I would say yes, by your standards God maybe sadistic. However, is God not capable of great happiness and great pleasures and great knowledge? What will it takes for one to give up those things for the suffering of others. As you mentioned you wouldn't treat your dog badly. But does happiness and comfort not come at a high cost if it is indeed desired by everyone? People suffer because we don't, and as a result a great deal of people suffer. I would say that God defined the system of our world, its laws and fundamentals, but what actually happens and exists is far more complex than merely happiness and love for all.

God is imaginary. Now, you can imagine him to be a sadist, but that doesn't mean his imaginary sadism has any real world consequences.
If you're referring to the biblical deity, he does behave like a spoiled brat that nobody can punish. If a real father treated his kids the way Yahweh does, CSD would have the kids taken away in a heartbeat, and would likely have daddy arrested.
