I'm not sure if I should try it or not. I have previously colored hair. I don't want chunky highlights, I want them very natural.

i highlight my hair and my friends hair out of a kit ALL THE TIME (i do hair for extra money in school)....and it always turns out GREAT!! no one is ever able to tell that i did it at home!!!..

my best advice is to follow the directions 100% and it's good to have someone there who may know a little about coloring hair...

good luck!

I actually do mine at home with the Loreal Color Expert. I feel like maybe they should have more highlighter in the box, but whatever. It turns out really well. I was complimented the other day by a hairdresser even. He asked where I got my hair done and said that it looked good. (Could have been fishing for business, but I'll take it as an honest compliment) With the Color Expert, you can put the highlights wherever you want and make them as chunky or not as you like. Still not as good as a salon job, but better than a regular box color.

You can buy kits that make small natural highlights and that are made for colored hair. Alao, it's you that get's to decide how thick you want them so you probably willbe happy with them. If you want the natural looking, pick a color that isn't to much lighter or darker unless you want the to REALLY stand out.

I've highlighted my hair at home before and it turned out pretty good, but it faded quickly and they didn't look very natural.
I'm sure many would agree that saying going to a professional is the best way to get natural looking highlights. I have and they looked amazing! =)
Hope I helped!

It works ok but the highlights weren't as dramatic as I wanted them to be. So I got them done at a salon and they looked fantastic! I guess it all depends on the shade of your hair and the shade of the highlighting color.

It will turn out just fine if you take the right steps. You have to find the right shade for your hair color. Just because you may want blonde highlights doesn't mean you can just go out and buy blonde dye.

Don't do it !!

it's not the same as a professional salon, and the strands of hair are dried out and damaged looking afterwards. One can never get it "just right"

I have seen others that have done home jobs themselves....you can always tell..it never looks the same as a pro job.

hope this helps? :)

well i have tried this twice and while it wasn't a complete disaster, it wasn't nearly as good as the salon. of course i did for financial reasons but next time would go without rather than to the box.
