Don't do it. If he/she is that allergic, then you are asking for trouble...and it can get BAD. Invite the friend out for a meal....or ask how allergic he/she might be. If the allergy is minimal..just sniffling, etc. You can clean the apartment, steam the couch, spray the anti-allergen items you can find in any store and you should be alright. You need to remove the cat from the main room and not let it out of the confined area from when you clean until after the visit. Remember, your cat has put dander and fur all over your home. Even if you clean it like crazy, you cannot remove the allergens that are there without a steam cleaning of everything and then removing the cat from the area. If your friend has a severe allergy, it can be too risky for a visit.

We have always had lots of cats and when my daughter's allergic boyfriend would come over, I would vacuum really good before he walked through the door. That was the WORST thing I could have done. It took out some cat hair, but stirred up the microscopic dander. Vacuum in the morning and spray with Lysol. Then make sure you don't have any thing going that blows air around (like a fan, heater, or duct work). Let all the dander settle and by supper time, they should be as ok as they ever could in that situation.

Allergies pills, rubber gloves and a mask....Unless the person has had any form of introductory to cat allergens, they will get sick. If this is a very serious friend that you wish to have over, introduce them to the cat slowly....Let there body build it's own immunity. AND THIS MIGHT NOT WORK. Depends on the severity of the allergy. Both my husband and I are allergic to cats....We train them to stay away from our face and wash our hands alot. Most people can over come an allergy to an animal...Just takes time and patience.

Well, I'm allergic to kitties and my husband's cousin has 2 cats. We sometimes go over there for dinner, but they usually clean their sofa & other things for me. I take allergy medicine, just in case, and so far I am doing fine at their place. Both you and your friend do whatever you have to do and hope everything will be fine. The very first time we visited her house, I almost choked. After that, I never forget to take a medecine.

you really cant unless u give him/her benadryl or somethin but sometimes that doesnt work, which takes me to plan b: get a new house and put ur cat outside because if u have carpet in ur house ur friend wont be able to stop sneezin because carpets hold allergens but if u have tile or wood its ok for ur friend to come over if he/shes all hopped up on medicine plan c: have a picnic in your backyard or eat dinner on your patio!!!!! thats always fun
