Good question however, there are lots of different answers. I do not believe in the concept of life being already planned out or mapped out as you put. In other words, I don't believe in fate. I am a devout Muslim that respects everyone's opinions and believes yet, I picture the world being a test and you have to go through your tests to get you rewards. As to your second part of your question, surely you realize that you were born from a mother's womb and you don't believe that is real?. Is that virtual to you?

You couldn't know. This is a question that has been debated by some of the great philosophers. (I mean about everything being virtual). Try Descartes - Meditations on First Philosophy, and also Berkeley. However, this view is incompatible with not believing in God - of course you could have a Matrix-style conspiracy theory, but there would have to be some entity providing your virtual experience.

The only person to tell me my life was preset without any choices was a Baptist preacher. So I made my own choice and walked out and never went back. My decisions are my own. There is no script.

GOD has a plan for us, but only we can choose to accept that path by accepting His Son as Lord and savior. Life is not mapped out, it depends on our decisions as to which path we daily take.

I do not know what lies ahead,

The way I cannot see,

But one stands near to be my guide,

He'll show the way to me.

I know who holds the future

And He'll guide me with his hand

With God things don't just happen,

Everything by him is planned.

So as I face tomorrow,

With its problems large and small,

I'll trust the God of miracles,

Give to Him my all.

I do not know how many days

Of life are mine to spend,

But one who knows and cares for me

Will keep me to the end.

I do not know the course ahead,

What joys and griefs are there.

But one stands near who fully knows,

I'll trust His loving care.

I wreckon the main things in life are mapped out e.g. life span, money, partner, children ...rest is up to you! If life was mapped out fully tho...there would be no reason to live.

In a sense, time and chance happens to us all, but God causes all things to work together for good to those that love him, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
