Misuse of the original term. It is, however, in anarchy and chaos. Not to mention economic deprivation with woefully underdeveloped infrastructure outside it one metropolitan city. Mexicans are hard working if you tell them what to do and give them the resources to get the job done, otherwise they don't seem to be able to get anything right. It will always be put off to tomorrow.

Mexicans need to fix Mexico, not come to the US to pick crops, do construction at minimal wage, clean for and serve the masses. I have been cussed out because they tell us that the US citizens are lazy and want to beg on corners rather then get jobs. However, I can't say that what I see coming out of Mexico is a testament to the ability to work hard. The Mexican culture lack something called forethought and insight.

I like my Mexican neighbors. I think allot of them. They are good, decent people, but their problem is in Mexico, not here in the US. If we South West, built up under the direction of the Anglo-Saxon "Greengo" were to be handed back to the Mexicans as some have proposed, how long would it be until the region is as blatantly impoverished as Mexico is? I would give it a generation (20 years). It would be in desperate straights then.

Third World countries are not as industrialized or technologically advanced as First World countries, and therefore in academia, the more politically correct term to use is "developing nation".

Basically, a developing nation is one where they are trying to make the technology universal and there's not a big split between the rich in poor in terms of access. Here, not everyone is wealthy, but if you really wanted to use computers, you just have to go to a library (maybe not one in your neighborhood, but there are ones available to use). In places like Mexico, the access is not there for everyone, only the ones with money even have the access to those things. As someone pointed out, the third richest man in the world lives in Mexico; however, 4/5 of the nation lives in poverty. There's no access for 4/5 of the nation to get ahead or succeed.

Of course, the onus is on the people of the nations to make changes. If they could organize as well as they do here (in America), in their own nation, they could turn it around, but they don't want to do that.

Your link shows many meanings. One meaning says 2/3 of the world is classified that (underdeveloped). Maybe in the meaning they could be classified that. Maybe we are overdeveloped here (I feel that).
What difference does it make? It is one world and we need to take care of all of it-the best way possible. And we haven't done a very good job of that. No country has yet--either the First, Second or Third World Countries . So I wouldn't brag about any of them.

Mexico isn't a third world country, it is classified as an "upper middle-income country." It could be a richer country if the government contributed the wealth equally. Sadly they don't distribute the wealth, so there's a huge gap between rich and poor. The state of Guerrero, Mexico HDI's (Human Development Index) is ranked at 0.7296, a number similar to third world countries. While the Distrito Federal, Mexico (Federal District of Mexico) has a HDI that compares to most European countries. So the reason why most people classify Mexico as a third world country is because the unequal distribution of wealth between the Mexican states.

I like many citizens of the USA have a limited view of the "real" Mexico. The visits I made were really difficult due to the strict limitations on non-Hispanics. Those places that I was fortunate enough to visit besides the tourist areas were pretty 3rd world looking. I can only compare to another place where I have been and that is Nigeria, that is a 3rd world country, but it was pretty bad.

I don't know its stupid and retarded. God loves everybody. Doesn't matter if you are gay. :P He still loves you, no matter what. I think that the bible steered some people the wrong way. You know? I am a Christian...but, not exactly the kind of Christian you think. haha. Its weird, I believe in God with all my heart and I believe in the Bible...just not everything the Bible talks about. Some things I think are just made up stuff.

Probably becuase they take such poor care of some of their people. People living without clean water, unemployment rate at 40%, some people who live in squalor, while others are fabulously wealthy. Geez, at the carnival in Juarez they have given out milk as a prize, isn't that sad? It's hard to imagine a first world country that doesn't strive to improve the life of all of it's people.

Hows the sanitation there? Is the water treated properly somehwere other than Cancun?
Your police force is corrupt. Your people are so poor they break into the USA for work. Your country has the highest rate of penile cancer in the WORLD because your men refuse to wash "down there".

Because it is. A third world country is defined as an underdeveloped country that is in the process of developing. It is so underdeveloped that over ten million of its citizens have crossed the border into the United States to find a better life.

Maybe they say that, because most peasants are still squatting in front of the campfire making their dinner. They live in stick and mud huts with dirt floors with no electricity and no indoor plumbing.

While, the Mexican government and the elites live in palaces.
