My mother has had budgies for the last 25 years - she has called them all Joey, she claims they can pronounce that name easy than others. However the last few (she's not lucky in the death department) haven't talked much and this is her dearest wish (!) - any tips?

Male budgies, those with the blue ceres, can approaches to communicate. females received't communicate. All budgies are diverse, and it would want to take everywhere from about 3 months to 9 months for a budgie to communicate. shop repeating a similar words persistently. prepare the budgie by technique of itself the position there aren't any distractions. once you've yet another budgie, prepare it one after the other. initiate with basic words like hi, hi, exceptionally boy, or the chook's call. once he catches on to those words, then you actually can get him to attempt to say some extra sturdy words and words.

'TEACHED it to talk'????? Jesus christ has anyone teached you how to talk properly? I think you meant 'taught'.
I have several birds which can talk ranging from cockatiels, through conures, to cockatoos. About 30 years ago I had a sweet little blue and white budgie who could talk. He said lots of things and used to whistle tunes too.
I have got 2 african greys who cannot say a word.

I used to have a budgie that could talk and I have taught two Sulphur Crested Cockatoos to talk. My most recent one is a stubborn bird though and is resisting learning anything!!

My budgie doesn't talk yet, but he imitates all sorts of sounds in our house. Telephone, doorbell, squeaky doors, etc. I am trying to get him to the next step of words, and he does well at single sounds, so maybe in a few months he'll have a small vocabulary.

My grandad had a budgie (again called Joey - why?) anyway, he used to say bloody hell in a welsh accent. Miner birds are supposed to be the best talkers so I've heard, I've met one in Mallorca who spoke perfect spanish.
