There are so many! Being an aquatic entomologist, I would have to say Dr. William Hilsenhoff from the University of Wisconsin - Madison! Building on the work of others, he introduced the idea of using aquatic insects and a biotic index to assess water quality in streams. The idea behind the biotic index is: many insects are tolerant to less oxygen in the water. One of the biggest depletors of oxygen is organic pollution (farm runoff, leaky septics in the watershed, even dumping grass clippings into a stream). If less oxygen is present, organisms that are adapted to live in such an environment are more plentiful - and thus act as an indication that some pollution has occurred.

Variations of Hilsenhoff's biotic index are currently in use throughout the country to monitor water quality in our lakes and streams.

Donald Trump- He is largely responsible for turning around New York City by investing billions in high rise luxury condos and apartments which has vastly decreased the need and demand for sprawl developments in that atrea. He has inspired many other cities and developers to follow his example that there is a good alternative to sprawl which paves millions of acres of land a year in the US.
