A rumor that atheists are being 'restricted' is going around? Is that really true or wishful thinking on certain people's part?

hope this isn't the case as there are so many things to learn here and wisdom and knowledge should not be restricted by religious belief systems, ethnic background, culture or society background, or gender just to name a few. please stay around and teach us. thank you very much.
