Make a list of what your sons hobbies/sports/colors are. For example,if they are into cars,go to an auto parts store and check out things that you can put together lets say to make a lamp, accents to picture frames, something that you can hot glue together. You can buy clock kits, lamp kits at craft stores. Make pocket rod curtains with fabric from the fabric store (JoAnns). Just use your imagination. If you rent an overhead projector, you can outline a scene or a picture on their wall, then just paint like your painting by number

First let your sons choose their paint colors. If they are too wild, just choose several shades lighter and they'll never know! Then have them choose comforters to match. Or if they choose the comforter first they can choose the paint color based on that. They will need a bed, a dresser, a desk, a chair (beanbag and one for their desk), lamps, curtains, bookshelves and a nightstand. Kids that age like aquariums and posters. Let them help you decorate.

first how old are they. and what do they like to do for fun?
4 young buy cheep (or good to later donate to charity) they'll grow out of it..4 older full size furniture and spend more..
maybe you need a personal shopper . or go on line to ikea. or sears or your favorite furniture brand.. Ethan Allen is expensive and also does the works?
and use the intenet and catalogue photos of the whole room they have everything each age group.
if money is no or limited object or evenon abudget and kids are old enough to talk let them help pick things out not us strangers!

In my boy's rooms they have the following........
Full sized beds
dresser w/mirror
6 drawer chest
(2) night stands w/drawers
(1) bedside lamp
small desk & chair
clock radios
Bose Radios w/cd player
shelves
toy chests (in the 8 yr. old & 5 yr. olds rooms)
our 10 yr. uses his old toy chest to store his winter clothes & boots.
We do not allow the boys to have televisions or computers in their rooms. They each have their own laptops, but they are to be used down stairs ONLY so we know what sights they are visiting & who is in contact with them. They are only allowed to play video games AFTER chores & homework, so they just use the television in their dad's den.

You have kids and you don't know what to buy for their bed rooms? For Christ sake! You must be a picture perfect example of a Mom. The CPS are going to love you.
