SHAKEN CREEDS: The Virgin Birth Doctrine By Jocelyn Rhys - Published 1922
THE VIRGIN BIRTH STORY
OTHER STORIES OF VIRGIN BIRTHS

It may be thought that the story of a virgin birth is too wonderful to have been invented merely to show that a misunderstood prophecy had been fulfilled, and that so miraculous a doctrine could not, without some basis of fact, suddenly be created by any brain, however fertile. But a study of ancient literature discloses the fact that myths of virgin births were part of many if not of all the surrounding pagan religions in the place where, and at the time when, Christianity arose.

"The gods have lived on earth in the likeness of men" was a common saying among ancient pagans, and supernatural events were believed in as explanations of the god's arrival upon earth in human guise.

About two thousand years before the Christian era Mut-em-ua, the virgin Queen of Egypt, was said to have given birth to the Pharaoh Amenkept (or Amenophis) III, who built the temple of Luxor, on the walls of which were represented:-

1. The Annunciation: the god Taht announcing to the virgin Queen that she is about to become a mother.

2. The Immaculate Conception: the god Kneph (the Holy Spirit) mystically impregnating the virgin by holding a cross, the symbol of life, to her mouth.

3. The Birth of the Man-god.

4. The Adoration of the newly born infant by gods and men, including three kings (or Magi ?), who are offering him gifts. In this sculpture the cross again appears as a symbol.

In another Egyptian temple, one dedicated to Hathor, at Denderah, one of the chambers was called "The Hall of the Child in his Cradle"; and in a painting which was once on the walls of that temple, and is now in Paris, we can see represented the Holy Virgin Mother with her Divine Child in her arms. The temple and the painting are undoubtedly pre-Christian.

Thus we find that long before the Christian era there were already pictured in pagan places of worship virgin mothers and their divine children, and that such pictures included scenes of an Annunciation, an Incarnation, and a Birth and Adoration, just as the Gospels written in the second century A.D. describe them, and that these events were in some way connected with the God Taht, who was identified by Gnostics with the Logos.

Mary and Joseph was not expecting before Christ. God choose Mary to have Jesus because she was the chosen one to bring his son in to the world.
God brought his song to earth to change the world so people can have everlasting life when they believe on him.

Athough I'm not a Catholic, (but I am a Christian), it is my understanding that it was because she was a virgin who loved the Lord, and she also came from the line of Nathan, who was of the line of David. Her husband-to-be was also of the line of David, so this fulfulled prophecy concerning the coming King. It is believed (but not scripturally supported) that Jesus not only didn't share Joseph's DNA, but that He also didn't share Mary's DNA! That God had simply created Him inside her womb from a separate 46 chromosomes, and that He was "adopted" into the line.

Because he knew Mary and Joseph would be good parents. They were already married and expecting their first child when they were chosen, and the child would be the perfect one for His Earthly incarnation.

God chose Mary from all the souls of eternity from the very beginning. He created her soul more pure and beautiful than any other; and, when she was born, it was called the Immaculate Conception because God allowed her to be born without the stain of Original Sin that all other humans have. Why? Because Mary was chosen by the Father to be the mother of His beloved Son, Jesus who is God Himself, the second person of the Holy Trinity.

God and sin cannot coincide, therefore Mary's womb had to be a holy and pure vessel through which God would come into the world in human form. Also, because Mary was Immaculate at her own conception, was born without the tendency to sin, which all of the rest of us are born with. She lead a sinless and very holy life, which is reasonable to believe because we are talking about the one that would carry within her, birth, and raise God's very own son. Mary was given the great privilege to have a child who was not only God, but was flesh of her own flesh, to teach him, comfort him, wipe away his tears, protect him, feed him and love him more than any other human can, because she was His own mother. But by being human, Mary was given the same free will all of us are given to choose God and live by His commandments, or not to choose God and live by His commandments. When the Angel Gabrielle came to Mary he asked her if she would be willing to take on this responsibility, she could have said no for several logical reasons. She could have been afraid of the fact that because she was not married, if the people in her community found out she was pregnant, she would automatically be stoned to death. But Mary trusted in her God and believed that He would not let that happen. Mary also knew that the mother of the Messiah would experience great sorrow in her life, because the Messiah was destined to suffer and die for His people and save them from their sins. She could have opted out and declined because she did not want to go through such hardships and personal suffering herself, but she did not.

Mary was very schooled in all of the Jewish Sacred Scriptures because she was raised from the age of three years in the temple. She had herself prayed and waited for the promised Messiah. God heard her prayer and her "Fiat"(Yes), and when she declared "I am the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to God's Will.", she was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and Jesus was conceived in her womb. The angel also told Mary that her elderly barren cousin Elisabeth was in her sixth month with child because "Everything is possible with God". Mary in her humility decided to immediately go to Elisabeth in another town to wait on her hand and foot until her cousin's baby was born. When Mary greeted Elisabeth, the baby(John the Baptist) lept in her womb at the sound of Mary's voice. Then Mary prophesied by the Holy Spirit and said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and I will rejoice in God my Savior, The Lord has done great things for me and Holy is His name. He has shown favor upon his lowly servant and henceforth, all nations shall call me Blessed."
