When I get a new puppy, the first very thing that you need to do is to bond with this puppy. The way I personally have gotten my own dogs to do things like sit or fetch or roll over is to play with them.
Get small dog biscuits and wrap your hand around the biscuit. Then let the puppy sniff your hand. What you are trying to accomplish is to have the dog follow his/her nose. So raise up your hand and the puppy will have to sit down in order to recieve the biscuit. When the puppy sits, really, really praise it!!! Also tell it "sit". This will reinforce the idea.
To teach a puppy to roll over, what I have done in the past is to lay down on the floor with the puppy and have it lay down next to me. Then just physically start rolling the puppy all the way over and then back again. You might want to tell you puppy "roll over" each and ever time you do this. Be consistent!!! You don't necessarly have to have a treat because most dogs will want to please you. So make sure that you really pour on the praise!!!!!
I like to sit on the floor with my puppy and just roll the ball back and forth in front of it to see if the dog is even interested in the ball. Some will love the ball, others dogs have the "take it or leave it" attitide. So you need to judge the dogs interest level first.
All dogs trick are just repitution - kind of like your mother telling you to go brush your teeth before you go to bed. Now you do it without even thinking about it.
P. S. My own dogs are German Shepherds and I don't care what size a dog is, it is really nice when the dog has "manners". The dogs are more enjoyable to be around and when properly socialized are wonderful. My dogs know that they must sit before they are fed. They do this almost automatically!!

First you have to teach him how to walk on a leash. you want him to walk...not pull beside you, not in front of you or behind you.
When you have mastered the walk then you can start with one thing at a time...after a walk when he's a bit tired and can focus better. You have to work on it every day and it's better if you can set aside a specific time. Puppy school is great and relatively inexpensive and is great for sit, stay, heel and lay down. Always take puppy on a walk before you go...it works better! Have fun and involve the family. This is also a great time to teach puppy not to beg at the table (keep commands simple and make sure every member of the family uses the same command we use "back off" when at the table). Good luck!

Your best bet is to do Clicker Training. Clicker Training is a great way for your puppy to learn fast and to focus on you.
