I work at a grocery store and so many people come in there with like 6 kids, their nails done, and they are buying steak and icecream with food stamps! It makes me so mad because they don't have a job or are just having kids to get foodstamps! Im sick of my taxes going to people like that. How do you feel about it?

"Are you against Food Stamps?"

No, not at all, IF used for the right reasons! :)

Food stamps are an integral part of the welfare program. At least they made it into the welfare-to-work program, where you have to show that you are trying to get a job or have a job to continue services. It is a necessary benefit for low income or disable people.

But I know what you mean by the recipients of food stamps. They are the most rude customers, and think since they are buying things for free, that they get whatever they want. When I worked at a grocery store, I could always tell who had food stamps. The way they act, the way they dressed, and how they carried themselves. It is a class of people that I don't want to be in, but unfortunately had to depend on it when I had no money and no job and an empty refrig.

Your taxes go to a lot of things you may disagree with, so I wouldn't get angry. (Mayor's meeting in the bahamas, fixing potholes and construction, food and bedding for prisoners.)

i think there should be food stamps.. However most poor people are poor do to bad spending habits on top of other things.

Some states do give out too much and some far to little

when i was 17 I lived in Arizona they gave me food stamps
for me and my boyfriend 300$ a month in 1995
I was buying shark steaks and shrimp

when I was 20 I had a baby in California and they gave me 160$
we were almost starving and there was no room to buy baby milk and i could not breast feed.

there should be some kind of reform

They are terrible. I once saw some Mexican buying 20 cans of whipped cream, obviosly not for eating. If I wanted to live in a socialist country I wouldn't be in America. The bottom line is that food is not expensive. You can buy a 20lb. bag of rice for like a nickel. If you collect coupons and show circulars you can seriously get groceries for practically nothing. Nursing people along so that they never have to learn better does not work, and it never will.

Yeah, food stamps are so easy to abuse. I think WIC checks are much better, since it specifies what you must buy with it. The government should put more of a focus on that program.

I understand how you feel and I agree but put that aside and think about the children and elderly that would starve if not for food stamps. It is a blessing but also a hindrance ..

I feel that most people recieving my tax money shouldn't even be able to have any help. There are a few that need it, but it should be a second chance not a way of life.

You mean those little stickers on fresh apples? I am not against them, but they are a pain to remove prior to eating the apples.
