Don't worry....My kitten used to suckle on my other cats neck and my dogs chest. It's a "flashback" to being taken care of....He will either out grow it, or continue to do it. Doesn't matter, it's just like "clawing" while they are content....Body reflex.

It sounds like unfortunately the kitten was taken from its mother too soon. The kneading is what cats do to stimulate the milk from their mothers and the suckling is the kitten attempting to drink the (non-existant) milk. Don't punish the kitten for this, it's not her fault. You can try to distract her with toys when she starts to suckle - if you give her plenty of attention, it will help her to break the habit. You could also assign one blanket to the kitten to be suckled and if she starts suckling other things, pick her up and remove her from it. After a while she should get the hint. She will grow out of the suckling, but she won't grow out of the kneading, which is normal cat behaviour.

Hi there...some cats are known to suck on wool, plastic, blankets, and other objects. Some believe it's due to either that the cat was weaned much too early or that it's a genetic trait more commonly found in asian breed of cats such as the Siamese, Birman, Burmese, etc. This behaviour is known as PICA. Here are some web articles about cat who have PICA:

My kitten does that to . He does it on blankets , my furry stuff anmials and my neck . It might mean that he or she was to young to be taken from it's mother . It's a sign of comfort .

It means that your kitten was taken away from it's mother too early. It is fantasizing of feeding on it's mother - a lot of drool, right?

It probably likes the feel of it on his tongue. If it has benn away from its mother long it will prob. think it is like nursing on the mother. He is just mom-sick. Let him suck on the blankets it may fix his mom-sick problem. Hope this helps. Can u vote ~ME~ as best answer please?
