because they have no customers, many jobs go unfulfilled because they have no workers, and the economy goes to pot because we just lost 11 million+ of our workers?

here a study was done by Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management. If you look about 2/3rds of the way down, you will see the economic impact that immigrants (both legal, and illegal) have on the society, and how much money the states and the government actually make with them.

As for what happens when a large number of people (immigrants) are removed, what happens to the economy.

i like this question, but dont be surprised if not many agree with you.....3/4's of people will not agree.....but i think that since most of americans that COULD be replaced illegal immigrants are pretty damn lazy, yes we do need them...the labor is cheap, allowing business owners and companys etc etc to expand with the money they save.....providing more work in america.....now im sure the gov. knows this and the people who do get caught as illegals are made an example of, but our economy does need these immigrants.....seriously americans are lazy, most of the mexican and asian immigrants that i have met work their a$$es off!!! they dont complain and they have a very high work ethic. in my opinion, its good for our country, which was founded under many nationalities....there is plenty of room for people and plenty of work...seems to me that a bigger issue is how to get lots of americans off their butts and off of welfare, into the workforce and improving our society.....
EDIT: ok RUBY is so very wrong.... do a little bit of research....we rely GREATLY on immigrant workforce, always have......and the stats arent going to be as high as the actually are b/c so many are not on the books.....please just look it up, you;ll find that you arent correct..(not bashing ruby, just pointing out a few things=)

Dont You Mean When More Than 20 Million (Are Deported) ?

Theres A McDonalds EVERY 2 MILES
Who Would CARE
If 1/2 Of ALL McD's In The WORLD Closed ?

Not Me

Same With Walmart (Every 5 Miles)
Do YOU Or I Care
If 1/2 Of All The Walmart's Closed ?

Or 1/2 The Home Depots ?

Or ALL THE ABOVE ?

20 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS In The USA

ILLEGAL ALIENS Comprise 6 Percent Of The US Populace
And 5 Percent Of The US Workforce

There Are 18 Million Unemployed Americans
That Equals 4 Percent Unemployment Nationwide (Reported)

Lets Do The Math

Deport 20 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS
18 Million Unemployed / Under Paid Americans
Get Their Jobs Back

The Union Movement Will Revive
And Wages Will Rise

Then We Can Install A GUEST WORKER PROGRAM
For 2 Million Or So Visa Holders......

UNLESS ..... Those 2 Million Jobs In Defecit
Are Filled By Hardworkin
2 Job Holdin'
Middle Class American Citizens
Housewives And Teenagers
Returning To The Workforce
For A Union Re-enforced Fair Wage

Then We Wont NEED ANY Guest Workers

Ahem...
We'll Cross That 2 Million Gap When We Get There

Removing 20 Million Non-Taxpayers
From An Economy
Supported By 300 Million Taxpaying Consumers
Will Have A POSITIVE IMPACT On Our Economy
Especially In Areas Like
Health, Education And Welfare
And Unemployment

You Will See A DECREASE
In Health And Other Insurance Rates

Decrease In Crime
(Especially In Certain Areas Of The SW)
(Judicial Expenses)
(Jail Time, Housing)

Some Businesses
(The Ones That Use ILLEGAL ALIEN Labor)
Will Be Forced To Close

New Business Opportunities

And
One Of The BIGGEST Benefits Of Deportation

The Retention Of Some 39 Billion Dollars
In The Us Economy
That Is Being Exported TAX FREE To Mexicos Economy
ANNUALLY
Via Remittances To Mexico From Their Cousins
Living And Working ILLEGALLY In The USA

Once The US Dollar Leaves The US.....
It's GONE From The US Economy
And It's Worth MORE In Another Economy

The Public School System In The USA
Is In Defecit
MORE Than 28 Billion
Annually
Nationwide
Yet ILLEGAL ALIENS Remit 39 Billion
Annually
To Mexico's Economy
TAX FREE
And The US TAXPAYERS
Are Left Feeding The Public Schools

And WE THE PEOPLE Birth Their Babies

I believe those problems would be offset with the taxpayer not having to subsidize the illegals because of their consumption of government goods and services, plus their not paying income taxes in many cases.

In the US the demographics are constantly changing. Stores and restaurants are closing all the time. Layoffs are frequent and plant closings are, too! These workers who are layed off can now replace the illegals who will no longer be here.

The economy will actually improve because our hard currency will no longer be going across the border to subsidize the Mexican economy.

See, we have it all worked out folks. Avoid the rush, leave now before those roads through Arizona, Texas, California, New Mexico and wherever else, offers a fast track back to old Mexico. You can be there for Christmas, if you leave now.

It's too bad Alan Greenspan wasn't exposed for the old fraud he is while he was the Fed chairman. When he started mumbling on during some senate testimony about how the United States must open the gates to immigration so we can keep "our" economy growing, it would have been great had we a senator on the committee with the intelligence and character to nail him.
The size of the overall economy is an economic statistic with no value outside its usefulness to frauds like Lawrence Kudlow, Tamar Jacoby, and the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal as a means to hoodwink gullible and short-sighted Americans into acquiescing to the radical transformation of their country through mass immigration.

Americans should demand that Congress and the administration work together to establish control over our borders and the interior of the country so that we have the assurance that aliens, whether immigrants or visitors, are legally present in the country. That objective is of vital importance for the sake of national security as well as for the impact on our tax bills.

This, I believe, is very simillar to the arguments made in the early 1900's when the issue was "child labor." It went something like "Children are doing jobs that Adults won't do," or "How are you going to make up the labor lost when kids aren't allowed to work?" or "Nobody will pay higher prices for this labor..."

The point is, if the illegals are removed from the employment scenario, there are 11 million unemployed americans (4.6% of 200 million) who will be more than happy to take up the slack at some level.

Um, the economy's not going to shut down for lack of illegal workers. Cesar Chavez must be rolling in his grave...Mexico's a joke, and the only reason I guess the lights are still on in that country is because there's an extension cord that leads to the United States...

I say show me a store that has nothing but illegal immigrants that shop at and I will say ok the store might close. But most stores have as many citizens shopping there as the illegal’s. And no I am not saying that just Mexicans are illegal’s we have them here from everywhere. Why is so hard for illegal immigrants to get their citizenship just like so many have in the past. Most likely is because they are too lazy to follow the guidelines. All they have to do is get there citizenship and they will be fine. But no it is the American people who are at fault, because we have them all tied up in our basements and are refusing to let them out so they can legally get there citizenship.

It will free up jobs for real American citizens even the real American citizens that legally received there citizenship by going thru the proper channels.

Many jobs will only go unfilled because employers are too cheap to pay a fair wage. Once they have to, the badly managed businesses might indeed end up going out of business, because their business wasn't viable to begin with, but the market is designed to correct these shortages and wages will rise until they can fill the jobs with legal workers.

Also even with massive deportation, it would take years to get those 11 million undocumented workers out of the economy, it would never happen all in one day.

All 11 million dont work and that will be 11 million jobs gained to Americans if thats how you want to put it and there will still be customers what are Americans chopped liver? (dont answer that) I dont understand how you think that once the illegals are gone that means businesses will die and our economy will plummet when Illegals cost the economy more than they contribute to it! dont you realize the majority of the money they make goes back to their country many dont spend it here, they are Illegal because the system didnt work for them so they tried another way out. Im not saying the economy will flourish if they are all deported but I know that it will not fail. Americans will step up too many have been affected

There are plenty of high school students, and college students and some immigrants who are here Iegally not illegally that are looking for jobs that will be willing to take their place and if the neo-conservatives in congress decide to raise up the minimum wages and give people the purchasing power that they need people wont hesitate to take the jobs.

The patrons of stores are not only immigrants and the percentage of ILLEGAL immigrants who will no longer patronize those stores won't make dent in their revenue. If they HIRE illegals, well, they need to replace them with LEGAL immigrants or citizens. The economy of the USA does not now, never has and never will be dependent upon ILLEGAL immigrants. THEY will NOT make or break the USA. If they think so, they are sadly disillisioned.
