The label says not recommended, but after being on Lexapro for 3 months I went out and had 3 beers and 1 shot. I have drank way more than this before(not being on Lexapro) and never had an experience like I had that night. I woke from my sleep and went into the kitchen for a glass of water. I blacked out and hit my head on the kitchen floor. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, so I do not recommend it.

I take Lexapro and my prescription directions say not to drink alcohol while on this med. However, I do allow myself a glass or two of wine on occasion and one beer after I mow the grass in the summer. I talked to my therapist about it and she felt it would be fine. Just limit your alcohol intake to a very modest amount, and don't drink everyday. I have no more than three drinks a month.
The psych meds are not healthy for our livers, and adding alcohol only increases the work our livers have to do. That is one of the reasons for the RX's 'no alcohol' statement. Just keep your liver in mind when you want more than one or two.

After what just happened to Anna Nicole Smith's son, I'd be VERY cautious of mixing anything with Lexapro. That's one of the drugs he was on.

It's not recommended
but seriously...
I was on lithium and they told me the biggest threat I had by drinking was become dehydrated and therefore spiking the concentration of the drug in my system. So he told me if I have to drink to make sure I keep well hydrated.
So techinically no, but if you do drink lots of water before hand, during, and afterwards.

No. Just remember the basic rule.

Don't not drink and take medications of any kind.

It should say right on your prescription bottle "Do not drink alcoholic beverages while taking this medication."
