The police just came to my house to tell me that our new neighbors had called the police on us(and it isn't the first time)about out dog. The only reason that they called is because it is a pit bull. Nothing was said about the miniature pinscher. I can't even walk my damn dogs without someone being noisy!

It's so sad about the hype on a type of dog.
People don't even realize that pit bull isn't any more a breed of dog any more than tabby is a breed of cat.
The pit bull streak can run in ANY dog, and most people can't tell which has it and which don't.
I suggest getting a hold on several different articles on the myths vs. facts on pit bulls and educating not only your neighbor, but your community. I'm sure your neighbor who called the police aren't the only ones in your area who are nervous about your canine baby.

As long as your dogs are on a leash they can’t do anything about it. And if they bark a lot, then maybe that is why they are complaining. As long it is not after 10:00 P.M. (check with your city to make sure 10:00 is your time) they can’t do anything. Most cities have a noise ordinance that starts at a certain time here it is 10:00, if it after that then the neighbors can call the police and if it happens you can get written a citation for disturbing the peace.

Have you ever thought of asking your neighbors politely what offends them about your dogs that they have to call the police and see what they say. Maybe the dogs are being too loud or pooping in there yard. It can be something simple that you as a dog owner can fix to make sure the problem does not continue.

Good Luck cause it’s a dog eat dog world out there.
Ok bad pun I know could not resist….

Is your pit bull trained? I've met many pit bulls I love, but perhaps your dog isn't well behaved. There is, I'm sure, an explanation for why your neighbors called the police. Be honest about your dog...does it bark a lot? Is it too agressive? Does it ever bite or leap up on people? If so, then get a trainer. Best of luck

they just called because it's a pit bull, no other reason? its not illegal to own a pit bull so there had to be another reason or the cops wouldn't have bothered to come out.

in saying that though, since you are the owner you are responsible for your dogs. your neighbors may be afraid of the dog...does it get out. pit bulls although if raised properly usually aren't dangerous but as you well know with any dog you never know how they view strangers they may attack them because they sense a threat to their territory or you. and lets face it a pit bull is much more intimidating and much more likely to cause serious harm to someone because of their build and size rather than lets say a miniature pinscher....the bottom line is this...you are responsible for your pets, you are liable if they cause any damage to persons or property so it is in not only others but in your best interest to keep them under control and in your yard. sorry but thats not only the law but your responsibility as a pet owner.

what did they say the dog was doing? The Police will not come out just because the neighbors called them and said hey come out there's a Pit-Bull.......MOST folks are afraid of Pits, the same as German Shepherds, Rotti's...Doberman's.....All dogs are very territorial and think that they have to protect the area and their people
you still aren't saying what it did to cause the Police to show up, they wont do it for no reason.

Thats so rude! Pit bulls are one of the nicest dogs on earth! Ihate people that think the reson Pit bulls are in dog fighting is because they hate other dogs, They are alot nicer then most dogs. Why cant people just understand that the people who train them to fight should have all the blame of giveing one of the most sweetest dogs on earth a bad name!?!?

Sounds like they are afraid of the breed in general and your pit is paying the price. What did the cops say? If the dog is well mannered, doesn't bother the neighbors and are not banned in your city, I doubt the cops will do ANYTHING to you or make you get rid of it.

This might sound cruel to you and ineffective, but the best way to stop a noisy neighbour is to muzzle your dog. It does not hurt them, and in fact in some cases it becomes a security thing for them as well as you. Most muzzles are humane, cost effective. I know your probably saying to yourself, why should I muzzle my dog, when he's harmless. It's not about muzzling him, it's about showing the world you have control over your pet. When he's home in his yard, leave him be, that's his territory to protect as he sees fit. This is just a suggestion to muzzle your noisy neighbours. I've known many pit bulls, and they can be harmless, but unfortunately, they don't have a great reputation. So I suggest you appease everyone and show them that you know what your doing.

Well aslong as your dog doesnt bite you should be fine and make sure its fixed that will help you alot but otherwise they cant do anything aslong as its not hurting anyone.
