He loves to sleep under my chin , sometimes he sucks on my neck and purrs . Does he think I'm his mom or his owner. He cries if someone else is holding him . But not me and my boyfriend. I just want to know. Please dont be rude . Thank you.

Your kitty thinks you are the head of the pride of cats...the alpha cat...as it should be! If you raised it from a tiny baby, then it does think you are it's mom. That's why it's "suckling" on you. It was weaned way too early. Cats and dogs should NEVER be taken away from their own mothers ANY earlier than six weeks old!!! I leave them together for eight weeks, unless of course, the real mom abandons them. It "makes biscuits" (the kneading mentioned in one of the other posts) because that is how a newborn helps milk express from the teat while feeding. ALL my cats have always made biscuits on me...it's their way of showing affection.

So just be a GOOD mom and teach good manners while loving Kitty to pieces for the REST of it's life!!!!!

Good luck!

One of my cats did the same thing to me when she was little so she might think you are "mom".My kitty would sleep on my shoulder and the sucking and needing on the skin is from not being suckled enough as a kitten. That's what a vet told me. She still does it and she's 8 years old now.

He'll be a mama's kitty. That's so sweet. Don't listen to Robert.

I think because you got the kitty so young that it probably was'nt ready to be taken away from it's mother,it's smacking is an indicator of this but i think this is really quite sweet that this kitty looks to you to be that special someone to take as good of care of him as his real mom :)

You probably got him pretty young, and you are now his Mother. Some cats never grow up. Mine is 12 years old and still does the sucking thing on my arm and "kneads" it with his front paws like pushing on a teat.

my cat millo is over a year and a half and he thinks of me as his mother he was shot with a bow and arrow. After i took care of him he follows me like a puppy. It is just natures way for him to attache them selves to the one who takes care of them and loves them. Animals pick one person sometimes two who they except as there mate.Sort of to say.you will know when he starts bringing you dead mmice and such he leaves them as a sign of affection enjoy your kitten ingore the people who are rude and just not there.good luck

I would say that your special feline thinks you are his Mom. Plus, cats believe that we humans are just "big" cats. If he ever brings you a "present", then yes, he loves you.
Mine, he brings me lovely gifts all the time. . . rats, mice, birds, lizards

This is a direct quote from A&E's presentation of CATS.

"When living in community setting with ample food the normally solitary cat can get along quite well with it's peers. Often forming friendships with another member of the group. Usually these 'best friend' are close relatives. Of course cats can form such bonds with humans too.

Cats think of us as peers and best friends. They really don't acknowledge you as an authority figure.

He thinks you're the alpha cat. The leader of the pack, which is apparently pretty small, if it's just the three of you!

I got news for your sister, your kitty thinks it is your owner! That is the difference between cats and dogs. Dogs have owners, cats have staff!.
