I have two sons and i find that what i put in the lunch box very much depends on the child.
One son will eat almost anything i give him. He loves a sandwich but prefers a couple of slices of quiche with a squeezie fromage fraise, a chocolate biscuit and a fruit juice.
My other son would starve rather than eat quiche or a sarny. He would rather eat a cereal bar and 2 or 3 bits of fruit, a yogurt and a fruit juice. I am glad to say neither are too much into junk food. But at the end of the day I just want to know they are not hungry and able to concentrate at school.

Depends on the child really. Some children are so fussy, but you should try to keep it as healthy as possible, but include a small treat, so they still look forward to lunch. Make a cheese sandwich, or peanut butter and jelly with some fruit and vegetables to go with it. Then include a very small snack like a cookie, or dessert bar. I would like to include some turkey roll ups, or yogurt, but I usually do not, because it depends if the school will keep their lunches refrigerated, and even if the food might not go bad, on a day that they are at school for an extended period of time, it's just not going to taste that good!

Try this they have a lot of stuff your child might be interested in some of it the important thing is finding something healthy that your child wants to eat.
I remember primary school getting packed lunches and only eating half because i didn' like the food in it

Sandwich, grapes, cherry toms, a chunk of cuecumber, Yoghart (frube) cereal bar and a drink.
Its very easy to give your child a healty lunch. Just prepare everything the night before. Sometimes I give my sons a mixed pasta, but every day I give them a mixture of cherry toms, a lump of cucumber, sliced pepper and baby carrots to snack on. If they are not in the lunch box they complain!
If its summer freeze the frube so it keeps fresh until lunch

pbj sandwich, apple, grapes or carrots, gogurt portable yogurt, water or reg or choc milk, sometimes a cookie, plus a little napkin. All in a icepacked insulated lunch box because they don't have a fridge at school. I also often include a granola bar.
I also sometimes put a little note in there telling them to have a good day and that I love them. They're pretty small and don't get embarassed about mushy mom notes, yet. lol.

When I was at primary school I always had a sandwich, a fromage frais and: 2 days a week - cereal bar
2 days a week - chocolate bar
Fridays - packet of crisps
Don't use any crap like cheese strings or stuff from Darileigh (sorry - can't remember how to spell it.)

Carton of drink, home-made oatmeal flapjacks(2) 1 peice of fruit, and 2 rounds of 'Best of Both' sandwiches, with a different filling of his choice, within reason, each day. 1 Elastoplast for minor emergency, in case putting one on in school by staff creates havoc.

a sandwich (aim for brown bread but white will do: fill with something like tuna or ham, lettuce and mayo). One bag of crisps, One chocolate bar (like a penguin or small kitkat for example) and a piece of fruit such as an apple, banana or clementine etc. as for drink: carton of apple/orange juice, or a fruit squash of some kind: i used to get Robinson's tropical squash quite often.
