To take care of your kitten, make sure he has plenty of clean water and high-quality food at all times. If he's a kitten, he needs kitten food. Give him a warm place to sleep. Give him a scratching post, and lots of little things to play with (no money necessary - cats love paper balls, string, handkerchiefs, etc.) Always always always be nice to him. Pet him when he comes over to you, never hurt him. Let him cuddle up to you if he is so inclined, but don't force him. You will know he loves you, because he will be a very happy kitty and he will want to spend lots of time near you. But that takes time. I hope your kitty lives a long, happy life with you :)

Hi! I have a new kitten now and have had cats all my life. Cats need a fair amount of food. There is a lot of controversy about whether wet or dry cat food is the best, so I play it safe and give my cat wet food, not too much, in the morning and at night, and I leave out a bowl of dry food all day. If he doesn't eat one brand, just try another. Cats are really picky. And don't forget lots of fresh water. Another misconception is that milk is good for cats. Most cats are actually lactose intolerant and milk might cause a bad tummy. As for whether or not he loves you, I'm sure he does. If he doesn't mind you holding and carrying him, he likes you. Play with him a lot. A simple string will do the trick, but kittens love laser pointers too. Cuddle him and pick him up a lot to get a well-tempered cat - always worked for me anyway. Don't forget to get him dewormed. I have a question posted right now actually about cat worms. This is my first experience where the store bought tablets didn't work. So, get him dewormed to keep him healthy and happy. Good Luck!!

Make sure your little one ALWAYS has water and dry food. Cats like to nibble throughout the day. Talk to him in sweet, uplifting tones, and be happy with him.

Don't lose your patience with him. He will make mistakes from time to time. Try to correct him but not with violence or yelling. You can say "no" in a stern voice.

Always acknowledge him when he comes into the room, or you come home. Both of my cats are at the front door when I come home, and I stop to talk to each of them and scratch their heads for a minute before I put down whatever I'm carrying. They will love you because you love them.

Good luck and enjoy your sweet little one!!

your kitten is still a baby right now, the baby will depend on you for feeding, water, play, scratches and lots of other things in it's life.....as it grows older it will have an affection for you like it would it's mother...be sure to correct it when it does wrong, keep it inside for obvious health and safety reasons and when it looks to you to fix things or comes to you for comforting or starts bringing preferred toys to you to play with, you'll know you're loved and cherish it....

Mainly, food, water, toys, and lots of love.
A cat will show love eventually....believe me...if they dont like you, they move on. I am not sure what you mean by more comfortable....but cats are pretty good at adapting.
GOOD LUCK AND LOTS OF LOVE

One way to know a cat loves you is when they start marking you as theirs. And no not by pissing on you. They have scent glands they will rub on you that only other four-legged animals can really smell. basically saying "Mine!". check out this website it explains it in a little more detail (where the scent glands are, ets...)

2 words-Cat Grass! Seriously...grass is a veggie to animals and they need it...Also, be consistant...Animals are known to stress when things change...But the MOST important is to keep him up-to-date on his shots and vet visits...As a proud mom of 2 four legged children...that is the MOST important!
