fill the 5, use it to fill the 3, so you're left with 2 in the 5. dump out the 3 entirely and put the 2 from the 5 in the 3. then fill the 5 again, leaving the 2 in the 3. then fill the 3 the rest of the way with what's in the 5, because there was 1 pint's worth of space left in the 3. 5-1=4.

Fill the 5 pint glass.
Fill the 3 pint glass from the full 5 pint glass leaving two pints in the 5 pint glass.
Empty the contents of the 3 pint glass and empty the remaining 2 pints in the 5 pint glass into it.
Fill the 5 pint glass again.
Fill the rest of the 3 pint glass from the now full 5 pint glass.
This will leave you with only 4 pints in the 5 pint glass!!

fill the 5, use it to fill the 3, you're left with 2 in the 5. throw out the 3 and put the 2 from the 5 into the 3. then fill the 5 again, leaving the 2 in the 3 alone. then fill the 3 to the top with what's in the 5, which will be 1 pint, leaving 4 in the 5

Not sure but I think I'm close. Fill both glasses. Then pour the 5 pint glass right into the full 3 pint glass and catch the spillage (2 pints spill). Do this again and 4 pints will have spilled. Put all the spillage into the 5 pint glass and it will have 4 pints in it.

Fill the 5 pint glass and then pour as much as you can into the 3 pint one. There will then be 2 pints in the big glass and 3 in the small one.
Pour the 3 pints out of the smaller glass and then pour the 2 pints from the big glass into it. There is now 2 pints in the small glass.
Fill the big glass to the top so it has 5 pints again. Pour as much as you can into the small glass. You will only be able to pour in 1 pint, because there was already 2 pints in it.
There is now 4 pints in the 5 pint glass!

Who cares? You've got unlimited beer (if the tap is a beer tap).
Fill 3 pt. Pour into 5 (now 5 has 3 pint, 3 is empty) 3 pint total
Do again, leaving 1 pint in 3, 5 is full) 6 pint total
Empty 5 pint (1 pt. in 3) 1 pt. total
Pour 1 from 3 into 5
Fill 3 and pour into 5

You fill the three pint glass and empty it into the five pint glass.
Fill the three pint glass again, and top up the five pint glass from it - leaving one pint in the three pint glass.
Empty the five pint glass, then pour the one pint from the three pint glass into it.
Finally, fill the three pint glass again and add it to the pint already in the five pint glass.
Voila - 4 pints in the 5 pint glass!
